Wear it and don’t be such a dick bag.
I've never heard of a human body projectile being the thing that killed someone else.
The law, IMO, is bullshite and encroaches on personal liberty. I do, and always will, wear my seat belt because I'm not a dumbass, however I don't think that should be the law.

haha ok. So it should be illegal to not strap down anything else in your vehicle as well, like dogs, boxes, basically anything in your car that could fly out in an accident.
Seat belts are a law simply to make money. I think it's retarded that we fine adults for not wearing one, or fining a motorcycle rider for not wearing a helmet. That being said, i think you're a moron if you don't wear one. If the gov't was truly interested in our safety, then we'd have seat belts that have straps over both shoulders and strap your legs in, like a babies car seat, and we'd wear helmets, basically be like a nascar driver.

OK - I see it now, along with the occupant's door sill.

It doesn’t work correctly if it is not across your chest, but under your arm. Might as well not wear it at all.
So i guess the lap belt is useless. Some middle seats only have a lap belt. Feel sorry for them!

From my post in the other thread:
It absolutely affects other people if you aren't wearing a seatbelt.
1. If you are wearing a seatbelt it is far easier to maintain control of your vehicle during sudden maneuvering. You can't steer well if you're flying across the cabin or flying through a windshield.
2. A seatbelt lowers the cost to the city of responding to the accident. Sending an ambulance costs more than you think.
3. Suppose you are hospitalized but don't have enough insurance. You will still receive care, but someone has to pay for it. But if you'd been belted in the cost will be lower if anything.

So you're morbidly obese AND you drive an old car?

Some days, I do have to put the shoulder section around my back. I do have a medical exempt from wearing one. But I still used the lap section. Been stopped a few times. When asked as to why, I just pull my shirt open on the left side. They freak out and say sorry for the stop.
Now as a passenger, I wear it the right way. Have no problems there.

Excellent retort. I feel very foolish and immature now, and am questioning my opinions.

Wearing it, but not wearing it correctly
Can cause more harm in an accident.
Took care of a teenager that put the shoulder strap behind her so it was just the lap belt across her. Got into an accident. Force of accident (and because she wasn't wearing seat belt correctly) caused the lap belt to cut up into her abdomen causing very serious injury. She lived...but will never walk now.

Think of your 175 lb buddy in the back seat who isn’t buckled and someone pulls out in front of you, doing 50. He’s coming though the windshield and plowing you down along the way.
I’m not arguing the legality for persons or any possessions in the car being strapped down/in, but is sure is a pretty good idea to wear one and strap things down if you can.
If a person doesn’t want to wear one in their car (or wear it correctly like the OP), that’s your prerogative Bobby Brown.
And for the OP, you’ll look like a dumbass smiling with no teeth when your face hits the steering wheel because you’re under arming the seatbelt.
