I’m. O expert, but I did a little reading,,,,,the amount of wind needed 80 meters is above ground is 6.5 m/sec,,,,,The majority of La is barely at that threshold,,,,,there are some isolated pockets and one is in NELA,,,,,,now that doesn’t account for the total number of days that wind occurred,,,,I would imagine these guys have researched a lot more than any of us,,,,if they are throwing money at leasing land, the numbers must work ???????

Plenty of land but i doubt it has enough electrical demand to justify the expense.
They transmit electricity very long distances now with minimal loss(~5%).

Another complete waste of tax payers $.

Know why we pretty much stopped using windmills about a hundred years ago?
Because they fricking suck.
There's not enough wind anywhere on earth to make wind turbines worth the investment of money, land, and natural resources.
frick wind, and frick solar too.

They just use them to fan the crops in fields to keep the rows cool from the heat of the sun

That’s a very informative map. I wonder why the wind is higher around rivers?

actual measurements close to ntp ????? so they will look at the month of June for project financing nah maybe they will look at the year 2022 with El Niño nah maybe they will look at the 2000-2010 decade with sun spot cycling maybe Wind roses have been around for at least 50 year for all areas with significant airports. The data exist for folks that want due diligence.
They compare the actual observed to the modeled expected production from typical meteorological data. The historical data is a big deal but no one’s inking a utility scale deal without insight measurement data validated by a respectable IE. The TMY data has really piss poor resolution.

I don’t see any way that area has the demand for a nuke deal. That feels like a really stressed economic model. If it was more favorable for nuke, they’d be looking at a nuke plant since it has the same subsidy as wind now.

Wind powered energy in NELA is a fraud. The fraud is on the taxpayer.
2 acres per windmill is much too dense. Wind shadow will kill any projects at 1 per 2 acres.
The ONLY places it would work would be on certain points of Red Hill and Macon Ridge…and the land mass is not there for a real windmill project.

It isn’t on the tax payer when the PTC is, by definition, a production based incentive. Kill production by over saturation and you kill the PTC with it.
I do agree that 2 acres is too close together.

is this a developer milking government grants and the only thing I will ever see from it is that free dinner?
Good question. I have been approached. Showed contract to two attorneys. Wind company's rights will supercede yours on your own property. The guy I talked to offered what I would call substantial money but I wouldn’t characterize it as a "staggering amount". I said thanks but no thanks. Don't want all that shite on my property.

Idk what that is. My side hustle is managing the ranches. My job is financing energy projects.
