Is there anything trashier than being the owner of a pet snake?

There are a few that come close, but I have struggled to find something that screams trash more than owning a pet snake.

Some people will argue that a pit bull trumps your snake!

I’ve been the proud owner of a white snake since birth.

You can’t pet it.

Growing up my friends Dad had a giant yellow boa, it lived in a giant tubber ware container—the thing was lazy as shite.

Only if you walk around with the snake draped on your shoulders.

92% of all snakes carry some form of salmonella.

That's trashy AF.

I had a python named Ms. Monty for a few years during college. Snakes are great pets for busy students because they require very little care and are fun to feed.

We sold her a few months before our son was born. She was eating big rats at that point and it freaked me out. It’s easy to stop loving a snake that could eat a baby.

How exactly is it “trashy”? As someone who grew up with having all kinds of pets (whether they were bought or caught) I think it teally depends on if you actually take care of the animal or not. Its one thing to have a responsible owner have some snakes and its another to have a room full of reptiles that has a ton of snakes with enclosures way too small for them. If the later then yes its trashy.

We actually have a smaller boa but it doesnt live in a friggin Tupperware container. In fact it has a really nice enclosure (which has multiple locks) and he’s very friendly and pretty active for a snake. Obviously we cant walk it like a dog but he loves to climb around on the tree in his enclosure or on us when we take him out. When we got him, he was only 3 months old and about a foot long so he was very easy to handle and quickly got used to being held. My daughters already werent afraid of snakes bc we taught them from a really early age that they werent that bad and they shouldnt be pansies like 99% of guys on the OT and OB when it comes to snakes. Hell even my wife isnt afraid of snakes bc while growing up she had older brothers who had a couple snakes.

I have one, we bought it to get over our fear of them. It's an Arizona Mountain Kingsnake (not mine pictured):

He's actually been a cool pet, definitely the cleanest, easiest one I've owned. He's content just hanging out, or us getting him out and handling him. Doesn't care if we leave the house for a week, is entertaining as hell to watch eat. Dunno, my opinion of snakes changed. We're definitely glad we did it. Not buying anymore after this one though, he served his purpose.

ETA: and he's never bitten, so that helps.

Idk about trashy, but I don't really understand having pets that don't interact with you, excluding fish. Dogs and cats I get. But something that just lives in a cage and has no capacity to care for you does not make sense to me. That's just another chore with little to no reward IMO.
