She was charged what would break down to $350 dollars a square foot for a small bathroom remodel.

We would have to have a LOT more details. That could be perfectly reasonable and wildly overpriced depending on the work done and the fixtures. Also, note the smaller the room the more the cost per foot for a lot of the work. Tile, for example, takes just as much setup and breakdown for 20 ft as it does for 500.

To be honest you sound extremely unreasonable.

Does not seem like it's that crazy to ask for the reason a job was that much more expensive than the initial quote.

You either have to give us more to chew on or nobody can help. When people can't help on tOT they shite on you. If you like shite then OK but if not cough up some useful info.

So it is a 30sq ft batroom, which is crazy small.

In a 50sqft bathroom I would say it is a tad high, but depends on the work.

Bathrooms and kitchens are high reno values. Why contractors love them.

Yeah it seems like with the price it should have come with a new bathtub.

This bathroom is large enough for a bathtub and a shower?

Single vanity?

If your mom signed a contract for a $5k estimate and he’s billing $11k without a signed change order you could tell him to get bent. I’d probably start by asking what he encountered that more than doubled the estimate amount and go from there.

You also really haven’t given us enough info to know if your mom got screwed or not

Does the contract she signed say anything about arbitration?

Had a quote for a master bath remodel bout a year ago, after getting the quote I've decided I'll be doing the contracting myself and at least half of the work....I'm probably going to save over $15k.
