re: Is there any place that people have less self-awareness than grocery stores?

Meh. We see you looking but when you get to a certain age you just have less f*cks to give.

It's borderline infuriating. It's like they went to the store with the intention of taking up as much aisle space as possible. What makes it worse is when they clear as day see you walking towards them and they just sit there and refuse to slide over.
That and people who mosey in the middle of the aisles or walkways. I'm not asking you to run through the store, but at least walk like a normal God damn person.
Also, don't use the self checkout if you don't know what you're doing.
Lastly, people who walk at a turtle's pace diagonally across traffic in front of the store. Walk across the walk way then go left or right to you car's parking aisle.

Try going to Joe Patti's when its packed. You'd lose your mind.

I was going to say a version of this. Michigan Avenue in Chicago was terrible for obliviousness, King St here in Charleston is very similar.

Seconded. I was on my way into MSY from the garage two weeks ago and this broad was standing directly in the lane of travel for people with bags. Just staring into her cell phone. I ran up her leg with my bags and she had the audacity to say "OMG are you kidding me right now, OWWW! Watch where you're going!" I received a small amount of pleasure from it.

I hate when the whole fam damnily come in after Sunday service and clog up the aisles.

If you’re at the meat section, park your buggy out of the way and then just occupy the space of one person, and keep moving in response to other people.
People who park their buggy in front of the meat and then stand there in one spot for a long time should be the first ones forced to eat bugs when the WHO bans cow meat.

You just described Walmart. And why I won’t shop there. The regular groceries, no issues.
Posted on 2/20/24 at 11:33 am to Saunson69
Yep. This is why I either shop at stores that never have many people in them, or I order my groceries via the delivery service.
The premium I am willing to pay to avoid grocery store mouth breathers is scary high.
My friend only shops at Trader Joe's and it blows my mind. I can't even handle the parking lot much less the store. And she goes on weekends even! Wild.

I'll second this... went through Denver and IAH this past weekend... holy shite balls. I think it's more than "some". More like half of the people in those places.

lol just opened this thread while some old lady was blocking the advil aisle in Walgreens. I didn’t even notice Walgreens had carts.

At Whole Foods, however it's like Cartmageddon, where everyone is trying their damndest to run over you.
Yeah, Whole Foods is the one I mostly get delivered to home. Well worth it to not deal with College Drive, Corporate Blvd., Towne Center parking lot, and the chaos inside the store itself.
Stores like that are the worst because everyone is gawking at the items due to their novelty.

I want to yell at the fricking managers at the front of store “hey frickers, y’all jump on a fricking register”

This and airplanes is the right answer.
Add gyms too - are occasionally annoying.

Funny you say this. We are frequent visitors of Superior on Highland - love the place, love the staff. Place is a well oiled machine. But they have the strangest managerial style that I haven't quite figured out yet.
There's often ~3 managers on duty walking around, and they certainly help out with seating/food when they're slammed, but they never hop on the bar even if it's just 1 bartender drowning in the weeds.
I don't know if it's some sort of policy/rule, or if it's because they get a salary and don't want to serve patrons since they don't get the tip, or what. But most of the managers used to be bartenders. I would never be able to resist the urge to hop on and help my bartender out in those situations.
Sunday was a complete shite show. I'm surprised the bartender kept composure because I'd have melted down at how kicked her arse got

I have about 75% of my groceries delivered. They dont get what I want sometimes, and at times I enter the incorrect order, but overall I just grab it at the door.
We pay some yearly fee for delivery. I dont know about other stores, but Albertsons lets you use all your coupons and crap. Also get one big Sams order for household goods about once every 5-6 weeks.
