Is there a more worthless Major Corporation than AT&T

Had a storm blow through yesterday evening about 6pm. Turns out winds knocked part of a limb down that pulled the phone line from the pole to residence down, nearly ripping the connector box off outside wall of house.

Like a normal person I tried calling AT&T to report it, get repair scheduled, etc., several different numbers in fact. There are apparently no live persons at AT&T on Sunday

All numbers and automated systems refer to: Business hours Monday-Saturday 7-5. Now sure, AT&T is a big company and all but there is zero chance in Hell they can arrange with nature to have conveniently scheduled natural disasters only during normal business hours. Hurricane in Florida? Apparently will only occur Mon-Sat, 8-5. Earthquake in Cali? Currently scheduled Mon-Sat, 8-5.

I hope they bill you for your limb tearing their line down. Why can you report through the automated system anyway? Too good for that?

I expect there to be a person to handle scheduling for minor downed line repairs AND for potential MAJOR events. Neither is available.


ETA: I have a chronic potentially life threatening medical condition that as recently as 72 hours ago nearly had me dialing 911
