2500 square feet of glued wood floors, wondering if there is a machine I can rent to make the job a little easier

A walk behind sander, but might gum it up.

Air chisel? It's still labor intensive.

Home Depot rents a pro scraper walk behind.
Problem is they all rented out

Yes. People are charging $3 sqft to scrape your floor with it.

this is the reason i went back with a floating wood floor instead of glue down

I was reading that it's best to cut the floor into 1ft squares using a circular saw to make removal easier if you're going the sledgehammer pry bar route. That seemed to make sense.
If you do that, be careful to only cut the thickness of the flooring so you don't damage the sub floor.

Thanks, I've been calling every tool rental place open and I get laughed at when I ask if they have a floor scraper available

This will not do wood floors.

I just did this. Manually ripped them all up, then rented a big floor buffer from HD.
Put a diamond blade on the bottom of the buffer (they rent those too), and it scrapes up that gummy glue.

If you do this, and you wish to salvage anything else in the room the floors are in, I highly recommend a skill saw with a dust port and bag. Otherwise you'll have sawdust covering everything

Would love to have that, so far no luck finding any in stock
