The guys who talk loudly in public on their phones through bluetooth are pretty douchey as well.

Both pretty well describe my neighbor. The couple moved in last year before Covid got ramped up. Replaced a LSU couple from BR that were cool despite our obvious team differences. This guy vapes and his wife must make him stay outside to do it so not only does it look like a house fire is in progress all day but the dude talks so loud on his bluetooth that I can hear him at least half a block away. Needless to say, we don't really hang out much.

I'm truly curious if vaping has been as linked to cancer and COPD as smoking cigarettes. Haven't payed enough attention to the matter

Surprised a doctor such as yourself doesn't have any info on that

He could be trying to say that vaping is a better delivery method of nicotine into the lungs that cigarettes. Not healthier, but a better alternative.

I doubt it though. Like you, I think he comes off as a dummy.

There's been less research on it but smoking cannabis is likely

Seems like a theory to me then and not factual.

quote:

Smoking cannabis can; make you wheeze and out of breath make you cough uncomfortably or painfully make your asthma worse if you have it There's been less research on it but smoking cannabis is likely to have many of the long term physical health risk as smoking tobacco (even if you don't mix the cannabis with tobacco). So smoking cannabis can also; increase the risk of lung cancer increase your heart rate and affect your blood pressure, which makes it particularly harmful for people with heart disease reduce your sperm count if you're male, affecting your ability to have children suppress your ovulation if you’re female, affecting your ability to have children increase the risk of your baby being born smaller than expected if you sm make you see or hear things that aren’t there (known as hallucinating or tripping) cause hours (or days) of anxiety, paranoia and hallucinations, which only settle down if the person stops taking it – and sometimes don’t settle down at all cause a serious relapse for people with psychotic illnesses like schizophrenia increase your chances of developing illnesses like schizophrenia, especially if you have a family background o

As someone who smoked a lot of weed in college, smoking everyday, wake and bake and go to class type of guy, so much of this is BS.

Wouldn't everyone who smoked tobacco in their youth with no problem be able to say the same thing?

The nicotine in tobacco is not the dangerous part, it's the tar which is also in weed. Weed is just not thought of as a significant lung threat because it's not smoked as frequently as tobacco and doesn't create physical dependence to reinforce the high frequency of smoking

I never hallucinated, never got some kind of mental disease, never not had a drive to do anything and it actually helped me do better in school, especially when it came down to writing essays and stuff. It definitely doesn’t lower your sperm count.

I’m not talking about getting lung cancer or something like that.

So it’d be a better alternative to cigarettes then?

Here's info I found from 2021 on Pubmed and it isn't near definitive. Not enough time yet.

quote:

Conclusion: Although research remains somewhat equivocal, there is clear reason for concern regarding the potential oncogenicity of E-Cigarettes/E-Liquids with a strong basic and molecular science basis. Given lag times (extrapolating from tobacco smoke data) of perhaps 20 years, this may have significant future public health implications. Thus, the authors feel further study in this field is strongly warranted

Not if you're smoking the equivalent of a pack a say like smokers. Nor if you have a job that requires focus or involves machinery.
