Yeah, because things were so much better when there were crucifixions and you were constantly worried if another tribe will come ransack your village and abduct and rape your women.

This is why Jesus came the first time. Yes there were times when God imposed judgment on his people and allowed them to endure the harshness of punishment. But, according to the Bible, the world will experience a continued downward spiral of morals and conflicts will come about for a period of time, no one knows, and then Jesus will come again.

I really believe that our country needs to turn back to God and rely upon him to lead us. That's my prayer for this country and our leaders.

The world has always had evil in it. There is nothing new under the sun. Man has always acted and behaved badly and done evil. We just see it more. But we're not getting worse or better. We know who we are. And there's a small victory in that.

Time is a flat circle.

Also, you don't have to look any further than what's happened in Nigeria where the Christian girls are kidnapped from a school and are threatened to either convert to Islam or be sold to slavery or killed.

This is not an uncommon type of occurrence in other parts of the world. God Bless America!!!

You're right, but righteousness and goodness through the Lord overcomes the evil that does exist among us today.

American police and government employees are worse, but everythin else is better and improving. Bad events are far more covered by the media than in the past

Yeah, and what a downward spiral the world has been on since Jesus entered the picture. Modern medicine, poverty has been greatly reduced, safety greatly increased, the printing press, automobiles, and the internet. Completely downhill.

Please research theocracies and come back to me on that turns out for the people in them.

Then go look at Rwanda, which is probably the most Christian nation in the world. Doesn't seem as if God has been answering their prayers when stuff like this is a regular occurrence.

Each of us will see how it turns out when we die or Jesus comes back. The Bible has some very graphic portrayals of how things will turn out.

I'll be held accountable one day when my physical body no longer is alive.

I still want our country to turn back to the Lord.

I've thought about the OP's question and have concluded that things aren't getting worse there is just more coverage of events these days because information is at our fingertips.

Is the world safer? Generally speaking, yes. The world used to be a very cruel place full of persecutions, genocides, and a place where one constantly lived in fear for their personal safety. That still exists in the world, just on a smaller scale and in more undeveloped countries.

I tend to not look at human events as evidence of mass media coverage, I look at natural events. I don't want to get into a climate change debate but I will say that I don't think there is much validity to the case that storms and weather are becoming more volatile. The difference is that now, if there is a terrible storm, earthquake, hurricane, drought, typhoon, whatever in any part of the globe there will be media coverage to tell you about it, instantly. 150 years ago, if there was a major storm in Malaysia that killed 1,000's of people you wouldn't hear a word about it. Your world was more localized and you only cared about what went on around you because that is the only information you had available to you. Now, a storm halfway across the globe is evidence that our world is changing. No it's not. It's always been this way. You've just never had information from one end of the globe to the other at your fingertips in an instant.

What do you mean by "back". This country was never a theocracy.

WTF is taking him so long? Is he stuck in the space-time continuum or some shite?

The Lord isn't an American. You understand that, right?

That's what you end up believing when you put your complete faith in a 2,000 year old ancient holy book written by illiterate middle eastern tribesmen. Try reading some information that doesn't conform to your Bible Belt bubble world conception of how the world is. You might even be pleasantly surprised by what you learn.

My own take is we are getting an overdose of bad news from the 24/7 media jungle, Left and Right. But I also believe that there is far more that is redemptive and good going on out there that goes unreported, to more than off-set the bad stuff we hear so much about as the chattering classes drone on and on. If this were not so, I doubt if our poor stressed-out planet would be populated by human beings (and possibly most everything else).

Or...if I'm right...we won't.

You see, that's the worst part about being an atheist to be perfectly honest. It's NOT having to deal with my own mortality like an adult, or having to explain that same thing to my children, or even having to deal with the ridiculous bigotry of the religious who treat atheists just this side of pedophiles. No...the worst part is NOT being able to say things as arrogant as, "Well...when you die, YOU'LL SEE!! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Nope...if I'm right and you die your light will simply go out. There will be no, "Wait...I did all that and there really isn't anything after?!?" moment. Got to be honest...I'd love to be able to toss out that little gem like you guys do on my more childish days.

That being said, I'm about as worried of the threats of your god's wrath as I am (and you are clearly) of being wrong about Islam. Which is to say, not at all. The minute you and others come to grips with this simple fact (that we atheists feel the same about your faith as you do about the faith of others) might be the time you stop trying to threaten people in to adopting your faith.

If measuring for quality of human's lives, the world is much, much better than at any point in our history. Not even remotely debatable.
