It should. Metric is so much better. I'll never be able to visualize it as well, but if they start soon the next generation won't be as fricked.

We use metric for pretty much everything in medicine. It's been that way for a while. They may have told you your weight in pounds but recorded it in kg, because usually when you tell a person a metric unit they look at you like you have two heads.

This. I have no idea how long it's been like that though. But that's what I learned in nursing school and that was back before 2000.

It's super easy to convert between the kg and pound for those unfamiliar with it. Take kg and multiply by 2.2.....that is how many pounds. Take pounds and divide by 2.2....that is how many kg.

I don't think many doctors understand the metric system. Before my old doctor passed away, I was getting 2000 cc injections of adrenaline to treat an anxiety disorder and now I cannot find a doctor who will give me the same. They claim it's too much despite my pleading that it's the normal dosage that I had been receiving.

2000 cc is a volume not a dose. Adrenalin is epinephrine....how in the hell would you be getting 2L of epi?

The only thing I struggle with in metric is when doing temps. Luckily I have a little cheat sheet card on my id badge so that when parents ask me what 38.9 is...I can whip it out and say "your kid has a temp of 102".

It would've happened in the seventies when they tried it originally. I should've never heard of an inch or a gallon.

It'll never happen.

Any idea how much standard-sized pipe there is in this country?

Pretty much all of it. Pretty much all construction materials are in inches and feet. You might occasionally other units, but rarely.

They already deal with this... for instance a 4" dia. pipe (actually 4.5" OD) is a 100mm pipe nominally (114.3mm OD)
