Is the Toyota 4Runner now a chick car?

I bet 80% of them I see on the road are driven by women. Or is it a gender fluid vehicle?

It sucks seeing them driven by mom cuts. That’s why I still drive a 97 with a stick...before moms started treating them like minivans instead of an SUV
The key now is to get a TRD Pro model, get a lift and add some sliders, etc to make it look more aggressive and get it off the road on the weekends
Only choice to upgrade for me is a Land Cruiser at this point.

Cars are unisex. It is how they market them that makes you think a particular gender should drive that car

yes, and most of them are retail shoppers too. need the extra space for things that could have easily been shipped to their door from amazon.

The manufacturers know what sells. It is why the Wrangler, 4Runner, and other similar vehicles that were once marketed as rugged and highly capable now feature more cush rides and creature comforts, with a 200% bump in price from 20 years ago. Woman wants the shiny new ride to take shopping and kids to practice, man buys it for them.

At LSU in the late 90s, seemed like most chicks drove either a V6 Mustang or 4Runner. Everyone else drove an Explorer.

Just a bit hyperbolic, no? My family's '96 4Runner SR5 stickered just under $30k when new (although it had all options an SR5 could have like leather, sunroof, wood trim etc). New ones start in the mid 30s if I'm not mistaken.
ETA: Found a similar but 4wd window sticker from back then
