Have to drive out there for work tomorrow and my work truck is manual. Don't want to be fighting it up the bridge in bumper to bumber. Will be passing at 9am. Haven't been that way in years.

South Louisiana manual drivers are spoiled with their flat landscape.

Why don't you just do what real men do and let out the clutch with your left leg, hit the accelerator with your right leg, and use your middle leg to hold the brake down until you've let out enough clutch to pull the truck up the bridge?

or just leave a gap big enough to wear you don't have to brake

The only time I drive a stick is at work so I'm great on flat ground but not hills.
And I rarely have to leave the office for business purposes.

That's what I like about my car, don't have to worry about it. As long as cruise control is on, doesn't have to be set though, it keeps it from rolling when taking off on hills.

the ONLY time i've ever been scared of a manual is going up some ungodly 25% grade hill in east TN to a cabin I had rented for my folks.
we got stopped halfway up the hill because of some bullshite racoon or something jumped out in the road and i had a car behind me.
killed the engine about 4x before I finally got it engaged and the car smelled like burned clutch for 2 days.
i've learned you just put that shite in 1st and take your time up those steep inclines.
