Is the stay at home orders actual law? Can they prevent you from working?

My interpretation is that it's merely a "very strong suggestion". Just say you're part of IT or payroll if you do want to go in and get stopped.

DART is still running and the list of essential biz is pretty wide ranging. If someone stops you, just say you are out on essential business. I mean, as long as they are cramming people on buses and trains can it really be taken seriously

If you're still working during all of this and you are non-essential, either you are your employer is a dumb arse.

Basically like a mandatory hurricane evacuation. They cant force you out of your home physically.

They cant physically force you to stay home.

Now martial law would be a different story.

What exactly is your work and what are you gonna do?

Most people work for a business. Those that are non essential will be closed by management/owners.

No one will be in my office so when I go in I will be socially distancing.

JBE’s order used the phrase “should not” rather than “must not”. I think that is your answer.

I have been working from home all week, because I can and have to homeschool the kids now. We have people that work in the field. Some live in Dallas County, but the work is outside of the county.

The commute is to rural parts of North Texas.

The people in question are hourly. If they do not work, they have to start burning PTO. They do not want to burn it if they do not have to.

I do not think Dallas County could fine a Collin County business for being open. I guess the lawyers can answer tomorrow. Fricking Dallas is such a shithole.

I assume if you work from home you can continue to. But if you have to go to an office or place of business I would expect those doors to be locked come Tuesday in LA.

Office and work is outside of Dallas County. Some employees live in Dallas. Work is in the field, like in an actual field
