Shame used to be a real thing.

Now 'people' just shrug it off.

In the past a child born out of wedlock was a bastard and most of the time left out of a will. That seems to be forgotten also.

A pregnant single woman was almost non existent. Not any more.

In the past an unborn child was a blessing , now folks want to murder them .

Something is off.

Many are dumber, some aren’t.

A couple of my grandparents didn’t graduate high school. We’ve all graduated college. I’m not saying they were stupid, but they weren’t educated.

We have generations of stupid and uneducated people breeding like rabbits now.

I wouldn't go that far, but we are FAR lazier then previous generations. And we certainly aren't willing to stand up to tyranny as we have seen in the past.

They might not know how to read Shakespeare or what the mass of the sun is but i can almost guarantee they would survive better on their own than 95% of Americans could. What do you value more? When the system shuts down how many people will be able to feed, clothe, and entertain themselves and their families?

Maybe discouraging out of wedlock births is a good thing.

Ask the black community how out of wedlock births is working out for them. Check the violent crime rates for young black men.

But that's the fundamental question at issue, if we're being honest with ourselves.

You said when the system shuts down, as though it's a forgone conclusion. And in your mind, I suppose it very well might be. But in the reality we live in which we don't know the future, should we more highly value skills that were useful in the past, and could theoretically be again in the future, or skills that are more useful in the current system we have?

Discouraging out of wedlock births is fine.

Suggesting they shouldn’t be entitled to their parents earnings at death is a bit much.

How many of those violent criminals will even have parents that have anything to leave them?

I guess that’s up to you to decide.

No system lasts forever.

Is the human race regressing?

Imagine what it was like to live 200 years ago... 500 years, whatever. It was not a nice place to be. Widespread famines, kingdoms and nations warring against each other all the time, disease that would make you vomit just viewing it. WWI, WWII... not good.

Maybe people need to stop tuning in so much to social media and the news rather than work themselves up every day.

I fail to see how normalizing punishing the child in any way discourages the adults from causing out of wedlock births. All through history, people had bastards. Legally, society viewed it as important to maintain dynastic lines and not let bastards have access. It was never about actually discouraging their birth.

I think people underestimate what social media shows us. It gives us a different view of the world that we didn't see when it didn't exist and as a result it seems like its a lot worse than it used to be.

This story is from 2011. A dude sues a pharmaceutical because Parkinson meds made him gay and a gambling addict.

ABC news

When we get to the point where everyone is being given meds that makes them gay and a gambling addict then I'll say we are regressing.

Yes, we went to the moon in the sixties, now we’re funding gender transition surgeries for our military members.

I think you're confusing the regression of American society with that of the entire human race.

The Human Race continues to progress, especially as someone said earlier medically and technologically.

American society has almost certainly hit its peak, and politics have caused it to begin its decline.

I’m all for men being financially liable for their offspring.
