Is the Glock 43X a good weapon for a female?

My little sister is ready to begin using a handgun for protection and is in the process of picking one out to begin training with.
Her husband suggested the Glock 43x... She hasn't been able to find one locally and is hesitant to just order online without having held one.
Any thoughts?

Don’t do that. Where do they live?
If in New Orleans area go to the Jefferson Indoor Range and rent and shoot one.
Also, there is a daily “my first gun” thread in the outdoor board.
If it’s for home defense get a full-size 9 millimeter. I’d recommend the Glock 17,19, or 45. I prefer the 45.
If it’s for Concealed carry and you’ve never owned a firearm before in your life get a full sized 9mm and get very comfortable and efficient with it and then consider buying a compact or subcompact and getting proficient with that and then take a CCW class and then you can carry.
If you don’t want to do that check out the Smith and Wesson Shield. I like it better than the tiny glocks.

I can't hit jack shite with a little plastic 9mm like that, but a lot of people like them. If you've got to carry concealed, I guess you can't really use a revolver with a 6" barrel, but it might be worth considering .380ACP instead of 9mm.

My Wife and I both carry one, mine with an extended mag. We have no problem hitting what we are shooting at and she better than I.

It was my EDC before the great boating accident.
I'd be hesitant to buy any pistol without having her try to rack the slide. my pic-less wife couldn't rack the one I lost.
In terms of accuracy and easy of use, it was an A+ for it's size.

The 43x is a great weapon for protection/concealed carry. Get the shield arms magazine and you can have 15+1. Most women can handle a Glock just fine with some training.

I would highly recommend they go to a gun shop and have her hold a few, then pick out what she likes. Glock 43X is excellent as other posters have mentioned, but if she does't like it, she won't want to shoot it. It's all about personal preference. Also recommend 9mm over 380; much better penetration which is what you need for a carry gun.

Small guns are for people who want to hide them on their body. The compromise is you gain concealment, but often give up magazine capacity, accuracy and the ability to shoot it comfortably. If you need a gun that doesn't have to be concealed, then fullsize is the way to go. They hold more, fit the hand better, are not as snappy to shoot because they weigh more, are more accurate due to longer barrels and greater distance between the sights. If your sister is old enough to own a handgun then she is an adult. Adults can handle fullsize guns without a problem.

All of this is true, but size and weight are also factors. His wife may not want a full size 9mm in her purse all the time. The 43 (which I have one myself) is a nice gun. It feels good in my hands, it's accurate and reliable. Personally, I think it would be a great choice for her but I do agree she should probably shoot it before she buys it.
Then again, if she doesn't like it, that's just one more gun the husband can add to his collection as he buys her a different one.

My whole post was about how small guns are for concealing and if that is not the case then get a fullsize. So, yeah if she wants a gun to carry then get a small gun.

.38 revolver. Just pull the trigger. Her husband is being selfish.

Yeah, it's good for a female. It'll kill females, trannys, even real men.

Not bad advice at all
For example my wife cannot operate metal CZ firearms like the P-01 or SP-01
You really have to grab on to those small uppers and give it the business
I would go .380

The OP also says her HUSBAND suggested the Glock 43. That is who I was referring to. Sorry, I'll try to be more clear in the future when typing on my phone.

43X is probably a fine pistol for her. Depending how big she is, it's likely going to be nearly the equivalent of a full size pistol in her hands. May want to look at the 48 as well in that regard.
But FWIW it seems women damn near universally prefer gripping the M&P line of pistols vs. Glocks. Might want to have a look at the M&P9c.

Fantastic choice for anyone. Shield arms makes 15rnd mags for it also.
