Why is a flight from Sydney to Johannesburg about the same time and distance as a flight from Sydney to Los Angeles?

Not a flat earther but I keep seeing this one posted so I looked it up. Sydney to LA is 7500 miles and 13 hours 45 mins. Sydney to Johannesburg is 6860 miles and 14 hours 5 mins. What am I missing nerds of the OT?

I would think with the earth's rotation the flight west should be faster assuming an equal distance, but for some reason it's not.

If it moved further away it would become smaller and smaller and smaller in the sky until it was no longer visible.

It doesn't do that ...lol.
It remains relatively the same size and vanishes slowly below the horizon...hmm

I wonder why?

Is the magic strawman in the doom creating this sunset that every human being that has ever walked the earth has witnessed...like EVERYDAY!

please explain like I'm a 3rd grader..should be easy considering your VAST intelligence

So you're saying the zodiac is wrong? This picture is wrong?

You really are thick. The stars appear to rotate around the celestial pole (Polaris to make you happy since it is close enough currently) every sidereal day. The ~4 minute difference between a sidereal day and a solar day is what also gives the appearance that they rotate around Polaris yearly. The key here is you said they slowly rotate over a year, they don't they rotate 366 times that fast a little more than once rotation a day. You are trying to shift your argument into agreement with mine because you have learned I was right. Just accept it doesn't take the stars a year to rotate around Polaris.

I do want to be clear that the stars appear to rotate since it is the earth that rotates and produces the appearance of their rotation.

No it wouldn't. That's a strawman. It actually looks larger when setting. Now do this experiment with a dome. And see how light is magnified from your perspective

by definition of what a mirror is, that would be reflection, not refraction, my man.

And again, refracted light, which has been bent by being slowed as it passes through a medium as you correctly identified, can explain why objects may not actually be in the line of sight you think they are, or why the apparent shape of the object gets distorted, but I’m still not sure how you’d manage to make two people think the same thing is moving in opposite directions just by passing light through air.

No my argument was the stars rotate over seasons and mark them. Which they do. Long before you entered this thread and said that was wrong. It's not wrong. You were wrong. You say they didn't. You added that they also rotate daily which is extraneous information to any of my point

About what? You haven't posted anything that makes any sense.

Nothing scientific in any way, and DAMN SURE nothing to explain *why* this lie would make sense. Your posts are 100% nonsensical and literally disprove, or prove, nothing you believe.

You thought eclipses prove round earth. But they don't. Round shadows on round surfaces can come from anything and eclipses happen when the moon and sun are on the same side of earth.

So that theory of round earth is wrong or tenuous at best. Period.

So now why do you believe in round earth? How many of the theories have to be wrong until you question it?

Wow, do you seriously believe that? Proving the earth isn’t flat is pretty simple and can be done by anyone who’s passed trigonometry.

Trig and geometry is actually how you can prove it's flat. Every "proof" of round earth that proposes to use trig will be faulty or use physics concepts that themselves must assume a round earth which is circular reasoning. All anti-flat earth arguments are strawmans or personal attacks.

I actually found this because you interested me but surprise surprise Amazon has banned the book

Where does the sun go in your model when it sets?

How far is the sun from the Earth in your model.

I haven't had time to build a model. All the money and support is in the round model. I just see how their model is wrong.
