I'm not trying to split hairs and I realize that everyone has their own opinion. But this board goes way overboard with it's hate of California (And almost any place outside of the south). Anytime we have a "best/worst state" conversation on here. It turns into a massive circle jerk of people building up the south into something it absolutely isn't.

To clarify, when I say "California", I'm not talking about the topography, scenery, etc. It's a beautiful state. I'm talking about the people. (No, not all of you. Plenty of good folks out there. But FFS, the state is full of idiots...and don't get me started on the politics.)

If you look at most maps showing the political breakdown of California, you'll notice that most of
California leans conservative from a geographic or land-area standpoint. Unfortunately most of the population lives along the coast where it is very liberal.

Go to Yosemite and you'll be surrounded by conservatives. Go to LA/SF and you'll be surrounded by liberals.

While I agree with the gist of your post, this can be said about any region.

People are overwhelmingly in support of the area from which they hail. Go figure?

Well at least you acknowledge that.

there is a reason for that. I think it all has to do with certain posters who shite on La and the south. It's mainly defensive. Hey you moved from BR to Arizona and love it that is great...but you don't need to shite on BR in the process...especially while you're on a board with an abundance of people from BR

Hell no man. You need more than one season of rain to end a drought of this magnitude. People just aren't talking about it because it's raining and snowing at the moment.

All you have to do is post any type of state ranking. If its a ranking for something good, southern states are at the bottom, if its for something good.. Southern states are at top.. And thanks to Mississippi, Louisiana usually comes in 2nd to last (or 2nd depending on whats being ranked). You just have to ignore it, people usually have a lot of pride where they live. Dont get me wrong, there are a lot of great things in the south, but if everyone would just be realistic.

This x 100.

And I hope the snow and rain keep up in CA this year.

You might be right but I think you have it backwards.

I mean I can easily point out the flaws with BR and Louisiana ingeneral. But it seems like every couple of months we have a thread where people tend to tell the same old stories of why they hate this state or that city. But god forbid you point out the flaws in their own community or town.

I'm working in Santa Clara. Just got back from lunch and my shoes are wet. So, in my opinion, yes the drought is over.

Good God, no. The South in general, no. Texas maybe. Louisiana, absolutely not.

But at least they are somewhat conservative and don't think that my work should pay for their shite.

Every place has its good and bad. I miss a lot of what Louisiana offers, and if I moved back, I'm sure I would miss a lot of what California offers.

Louisiana job situation is shite though. Not a diverse enough state. I can never move back and hope to find a job in tech like I could here.

California is a beautiful place with a ton of smart people. Louisiana, well, it's home.

No, it's not. The Sierra Snow Pack still needs to recover as do the various reservoirs across the foothills. The ground around here is soaking up everything it can get to recharge the aquifers. As a result the rivers have not flooded like we might expect with these levels of rain.

Are you in Sonoma? I just spent a week in Healdsburg and it was pretty much a steady rain the whole time. Those creeks were up. Not flooded but moving some water and the valley fields were holding water. Good to see. And whomever said the food sucked hasn't a clue. I had great food all week.
