Is the average lifespan of a human not long enough or too long?

Or is it just right?

I think it’s too short. If we had double the amount of time, and were guaranteed to live to at least 150, I think that’s what I’d prefer. Adjust the aging process to where you would develop at 1/2 the normal time it takes.

The difference in age between me and my parents is almost 30 years. That’s not exactly what I’d call a long time. Imagine living long enough to meet your great great grandchildren.

Then there’s also the added benefit of having a population of “elders” who’ve seen and lived through more than a century of life and could offer better historical guidance for future generations.

What’s the OT have to say?

My rigorous 2.5 mile power walks set the tone for my elite daily fitness plan, as i plan to see S jr. bequeath our fortune to S III one day.

We can already barely sustain boomers now. Why on Earth would you want them to live another 70 years?

My daughter got to know her great grandfather for 11 years and he was mentally with it up until the last 6 months. I thought it was pretty awesome but certainly not the norm. I never met any of mine.

It would be cool for people to live to 300 just so they can realized how utterly stupid they were when young. Then live another 300 years just to realize they know less shite now than when they were young and stupid. Then die as ignorant stupid old fricks. So 600 years would please me.

Too long according to my 93 year old grandfather
His body is failing but his mind is 100% there
He is somewhat miserable because he can no longer live alone or 100% care for himself

To someone that lost a loved one at an early age or to someone that found the love of their life later in life it’s not long enough

It depends on the person and quality of life. You have 90 year olds who wake up every day and are active and you have 90 year olds who sit around all day waiting to die.

I agree with this up to a point. Like I’d rather fall asleep and wake up dead at 70 than have Alzheimer’s at 85 but I don’t wanna die quietly at 35

This question is impossible for me to answer because all my assumptions about how life ought to be are constrained by how long it currently is.

Would people living longer be a good thing? Well, assuming commensurate memories, there would be a lot of benefits. A lot of the deceptive rewriting of the 20th century would have been impossible if people born during the Civil War were only now starting to pass. A people with a longer memory and lifespan would create a nation with one.

But an integral part of life is its cyclical nature. The old had their day, and in their advanced age step aside to permit the new to flourish. People tend to ground themselves in the framework of their formative years as adolescents and young adults, and struggle to adjust to reality shifting beneath their feet. This problem, on its face, would only be exacerbated by doubling a person's lifespan. But would our mentalities adjust to match our new lifespans? Would this concern even matter if we lived longer? Maybe longer lives would make us more appreciative of the wisdom of those who came before and less concerned about making our own mark of improvement upon it. Maybe that's better and maybe that's worse.

A lot of words to say I don't know. But I don't know how you could, without getting to experience it.

The younger kids would still make fun of someone born in 1905 because they didn't know how to do Excel formulas

I'll take 300 if I can still function, but only if my kids live after I die.

Never enough hours in a day. Never enough days in a week. However, life span seems about right. Perfect simplicity. Here one day and gone the next, like a candle being blown out in the night.

I doubt when I am on my death bed I will say, "Damn, I should have worked harder and longer."

It is late at night as I write this. I wish it weren't so far to my beer cooler and whisky cabinet. I do envy those who have one of those dogs who will fetch them a beer. don't want a sandwich, but a cold Budweiser and a shot of Charter would hit the spot.
