They both have always been and always will be what you make them.

Yup. They also have some good niche subreddits for different hobbies and such.

That’s not even true, at some point this year Reddit was accounting for a massive chunk of Google searches from most people using it over traditional google searches, so much so that google paid Reddit like $1b to train their AI on reddits data, Reddit is massive.
I mean Reddit has millions upon millions of lurkers or more casual users. They’re more like your everyday at least somewhat socially well adjusted person. But many of the ones that practically live on that site are ones that are extremely out of touch with society. And there’s lots of them too

Honestly Reddit is second to TD for me. Game changer when I learned about it, has been a big help for a few of the hobbies I do and planning trips

My favorite Reddit-ism was how FLOORED everyone from other countries was when Bernie Sanders dropped. If you visited that site at all during that time, they would have you believe it was 100% certain he was going to be our next president.
When that didn't happen, all the non-US people were totally confused.
Some of those people truly don't realize Reddit is not at all an accurate representation of society.

Only subreddit I ever view and for the most part it is a very solid place for some broad level discussion about the sport that you can’t really find anywhere else on the Internet.
Per every large website, your experience is what you make of it

Yeah, you kinda just have to force yourself to tune things out.
When we were getting married, I enjoyed participating in the wedding planning subreddits. But I also had to dodge posts about Covid, politics, "MAGA family members", etc. because it infiltrates into all of Reddit.

Of course the site is full of losers as well, but you could say the same thing about TD, just the opposite end of the spectrum.
