Is putting a napkin on a cold beer can or bottle a southern thing or is it everywhere?

My MawMaw would always have a bourbon and ginger in a rocks glass with a napkin on the bottom

Same with my pawpaw but bourbon and water.

I think it’s likely because it’s hotter than a welders dick down here so glasses/bottles sweat instantly

I have to have something if I’m outside this time of year. I can’t drink warm beer. And in S La this time of year it takes about 5 minutes outside for the beer to be undrinkable for me. I have tons on koozies though, so I’m usually prepared.

Yes

Napkins exist only in the south

We tried to introduce napkins to some Northern Tribes in the late 80’s, but it never caught on.

Napkin around the beer used to be the only way a bartender of quality would hand you your beverage

Remember, sprinkle a little salt on that napkin so it doesn't stick.

It soaks up the condensation instead of it dripping all over.

This. Helps keep a grip on the glass. Started before koozies and when everyone drank everything from a glass.

Now they have Stanley’s with handles.

I bought a birthday cake for my mom to take to her Sunday school class last Friday. By the time I drove back to my parents' house five blocks away, there were condensation bubbles inside the plastic container the cake was in.

It's accepted practice in places where it is as humid as Venezuelan a-hole.

It means you are ghey.

If you don’t have a wedding koozie from 15 years ago or bar koozie from 20+ years ago, that’s weak.

Still have a sports koozie from the tiger land days. May have had to stitch it back together but legends never die

Once the napkins absorb enough condensate you roll it downward to make a ring.
Then remove and do ring toss with the bottles at the bar.
George’s southside use to give you a shot of the bottle you rung back in the day.
Good times.
