Jesus asked Peter who he thought He (Jesus) was and Peter replied that Jesus was "The Christ"; Jesus was referring to that statement, that he was the Christ, when He said THAT was the rock which the church would be founded upon.

FTFA:
quote:

Christianity has died in the hands of Evangelicals...The beauty of the gospel message — of love, of peace and of fraternity — has been murdered by the ambitions of Trumpish flimflammers who have sold their souls for expediency. No greater proof is needed of the death of Christianity than the rush to defend a child molester in order to maintain a majority in the U.S. Senate. Evangelicals have constructed an exclusive interpretation which fuses and confuses white supremacy with salvation...Evangelicalism has ceased to be a faith perspective rooted on Jesus the Christ and has become a political movement whose beliefs repudiate all Jesus advocated.

Based on all of that, I'm gonna have to side with the Catholics on this one. Damn Evangelicals ruining shite!

But honestly ours is all contemporary now, so we pretty much have none of it

Catholicism hasn't had any problems with defending child molesters, so it looks like you made the smart choice.

Yes.
All through the New Testament, for the "Bible-believin' Christians" (and YES, this includes the Catholics) praise and "life" are bestowed upon those who give up their very lives for the sake of Christ and His Kingdom.

"Prosperity Gospel" is the antithesis of this notion.

I thought the same until i heard this ol' Methodist preacher baw give the prayer at the rodeo last Friday. I'm not a Methodist but married one and that wasn't like anything I've ever heard at a Methodist church.

Those priests are doing God's work, not like Roy Moore at all.

If only we had a place to discuss your long post. You’re one of few Catholics I’ve encountered who actually knows anything about Catholic doctrine. Why? Because you converted as an adult and you cared to learn.
Catholics who are born Catholic know next to nothing except that they’re “right.” How lame.

Obligatory thanks for trying, but current Roman Catholicism was founded by Theodosius in 382.
