Is PB&J not allowed in school anymore?

Dropped my nephew off at his elementary summer camp.
The teacher told me he couldn’t take his lunch since it had peanut butter. This was in case any kids have peanut allergies.
Is this the way it is everywhere now?

Depends on the severity of the allergy. My kids' elementary school used to have to ban peanuts due to an airborne allergy but currently do not.

We make my son one everyday. Never asked if it was OK.

No, PB&J is illegal. But the good news is your son can chop his dick off and pretend to be girl. As a matter of fact, it's encouraged.

I agree.
I don’t know why we have to limit it for everyone because maybe one kid out of a hundred has a peanut allergy.

my kids private school is like that. which is one of the reason we chose it as my oldest two have severe nut and shell fish allergies.
they have to ingest it though, so they can be around it. but when in prek/K, better to not have to worry.

No, it’s class-specific where I live.
Seems like maybe a third of the classes have a kid that’s allergic to something.

Need stronger peanut control laws. Should institute universal peanut checks.

It doesn't make a whole lot of sense, because even a kid with an airborne allergy isn't going to be able to avoid peanuts everywhere. If he/she ever even goes to the grocery store he/she will be confronted by this.
I think schools are just trying to avoid a lawsuit and also want to avoid having to handle major health scares due to airborne allergies.

Ours only doesn't allow it if a kid in the class has an issue. No issues for my kid last year, but this year he had a classmate with a peanut allergy so had to change things up.

because some kids have reactions just to it being airborne
there is teacher at my kids school that is like that with fish, any kind of fish. the smell gives her a reaction.
luckily my kids are allergic to the specific protein in PB/Tree nuts and shellfish so they can be around it and have other fish and luckily....only deathly allergic to one or the other depending on kid. middle son is deathly allergic to PB and was the first time he had it. oldest used to eat shrimp like it was the only food on the planet, then one day....poof 4 year old looked like will smith in hitch.

Again, the masses have to change their behavior for the minority

Because lawsuits.
If your kid’s school has a silly rule, you can almost guarantee that a school system somewhere was dragged into court because of the absence of said silly rule.

My kids get a peanut butter sandwich pretty much every day during the school year.

Are you saying that you had to find other things to put in his LNCHBOX?

I really think there's also a practical reason for this. If you worked at a school, would you want to deal with a kid going through anaphylactic shock?

Nope. I forget about it every once in a while and ask the boys if they want pbj for lunch. Then they say they’re not allowed.
