Well if you like your boat, You can’t go wrong with FR. if you really like the woods and water I’d think the smaller town, agrarian vibe of NR would suffice. Either way you’re gonna have to drive back to BR for work so there’s no getting around that.

Pride is another place you could live out in the woods that isn't terribly far from BR. It's not really a town but just a big area north of Central. There isn't really anything out there but it sounds like that's what you want.

My house in BR is almost the same sq footage and was less than that.

Granted, it's an older house than the one in your post.

One of my friends retired to NR, he says if You need something that.cant be bought at Walmart or Tractor Supply you are driving to BR, have anything beyond a minor health issue you are driving to BR for doc appointments. After 5 years my friend is looking into moving to BR, he figures he has spent half his time in NR driving to BR and back,

Half the people who will respond to this don’t even live in Louisiana.

New Roads is in Acadina. Has more of a Cajun/Catholic culture. Second oldest Mardi Gras in Louisiana. St. Francisville is East of the river. It’s historically more Anglo, Protestant and country. Pretty funny how the accents are totally different and the two towns are right across the river from each other. Both are cool towns with a lot of history.

I was raised in NR and currently live in NR. If I didn't have family in NR, I wouldn't live in NR. Also, NR is leaps and bounds better than Opelousas. Like another poster said, you spend half your time driving to BR for goods and services that you can't get in NR. If your paw-paw is well known, you'll do well in NR.

If you don’t mind baws, f250’s, and eating at hot tails 2x a week it’s a beacon of light in an otherwise forgotten corner of the state.

Hot Tails alone makes it livable.

Has Maximus joined in?

I grew up in New Roads. Been away since I left for college. It’s one of the better towns in Louisiana imo.

I wouldn’t mind moving back but with my job there is no way.

Opelousas full o sloots. Either that or they were just relocating them to LSU in the late 90s. Like fishing with dynamite baws, not even fair.

I live in New Roads and it’s certainly not the best place, but It’s not to bad either.

I don’t have to cross the river for work and like the Outdoors and peace and quite so it works for me.

If your cellular carrier is AT&T, you don’t want to move there. LOL!

You really going to say this with Port Barre a few miles down the road?
