Is more or less paper wasted at businesses who set default settings to 2-sided printing?

I find myself reprinting nearly everything because the setting cannot be changed permanently to 1-sided printing.

There should be a pop-up that asks this specifically. I agree I reprint often due to one setting or the other not being right, when if I was prompted every time i hit print it would save money and time to not have to reprint a long doc.

My company makes most of our money off the paper and pulp industry so keep doing what you are doing my man.
But to answer your question wouldn't more paper be wasted on 1 sides printing given that fact what it would use less paper to make copies of more than 1 page. Also it is not difficult to look and change the settings before printing. Someone probably has that saved because that is the main default printer and they are trying to cut down on waste of paper.

They tried this at a satellite office once. Wasted more paper than it saved since most everyone wanted single sided

I wish there was a setting for like over 40 pages it would print double sided but otherwise single sided.

Definitely wastes paper b/c our printer will jam nearly every page with 2-sided. Needless to say, someone forgets to change the default half the time, jams the printer, and has to start over. Wastes paper *and* time.

Control Panel> Devices and Printers
Right click on the printer and go to printer preferences. Set it to single sided. Typically Admins do not lock out this ability for users.
