It’s kind of like dumb and dumber, made for men type slapstick humor, don’t watch it with women type of humor…just imagine you are British, it’s like their food, it’s eatable, but not Cajun spiced…

The Holy Grail is the greatest "anti movie" ever made. Nothing is reverent, and the process is mocked throughout.
Having a person from the movie’s setting ride through and murder a historian providing some narrative is an example.

I like the fact that the troupe could afford THAT horse....

This is my point - it's not nearly as clever as everyone says it is.

I'm actually going with a buddy to a screening of Holy Grail presented by John Cleese soon.
Before the show started, I was at the Sazerac Bar at the Roosevelt, I walk out and across the lobby I see Cleese standing halfway up a stairway that empties into the lobby.
I make a big flourish and swing around with a huge arse British Army salute towards him (it starts like the Heil Hitler move, ends up in a palm-up salute) and hold it. He smirked and threw his shoulders back and returned my salute.
*That was the final date of their tour that year. They were in a really good mood because they’d reached the Finnish line.
Like the Soviets.

That is a legitimately awesome story

I remember back in the late 80's when I was in high school MTV showed old episodes every week. I used to roll on the floor laughing at that shite. It was pretty good male humor to me.

British humor is based upon how retarded and nonsensical one can be. To the British that is what makes something funny. The Spam sketch comes to mind.
American humor is different.

It's kind of like jazz people pretend to like it to appear cultured

I saw that a few years ago, and I went into it very excited. Unfortunately, he was a miserable whiny bitch during the Q&A, even threatening to leave the stage and end the show because people were "Wooing" when cheering.
Following him on Substack was a huge disappointment. He has become British Jimmy Kimmel with a larger vocabulary.

Then don’t watch it. Simple

Oddly, my favorite MP is actually the "short" in front of Meaning of Life, followed by Life of Brian. If you are old enough to have Holy Grail on laserdisc, playing the Japanese version is pretty awesome (as you already know all the bits).

On second thought. Let’s not go to Camelot. It’s a silly place.

Life of Brian.
Watched for the first time with friends and some home brew that may not have been created to specification because something was bad wrong. Quite the night.
