Pick any rural town in Louisiana, and you are basically living better off than in Mandeville baw.

I can see that as an issue, because most lots in Lafayette are pretty damn expensive, and not very big.

I live in an older neighborhood with decent sized lots, mature trees, nice families, etc... and I'm in the heart of Lafayette and can get around the city easily.

Brentwood? Woodvale?

Besides traffic what do yall not like about it?

Eh...there's no traffic. I mean, it takes a bit to get out down Verot School, but once you do you're in the same shitty traffic on Ambassador and everywhere as anyone that lives in Laffy proper. But there's no traffic In Youngsville at all.

I've been in Lafayette since 1988 and in 2004 when we were looking for a house, we looked all over. In the end, we really wanted to build and we preferred Youngsville to other places that were available.

I'm not advocating anyone else move here...just that we're super happy here and have been happy as the community has built up around us.

Whenever we move, it’ll be out of state... Montana, Idaho or Wyoming.

Wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in the state than old Mandeville.

Also my neighborhood "stats" compare pretty favorably to the stats listed above for Mandeville, yet I'm in a relatively large city (compared to Mandeville, or the rest of the state really).

I know you're comparing the size of the cities, but as someone posted above Mandeville/Covington... all run together.

St. Tammany Parish population = 260,000
Lafayette Parish population = 244,000

What amenities does the Lafayette area have that are not also available in the Mandeville area?

I actually agree with you. When I see people sitting in traffic on the Youngsville highway I often wonder why they didn't just move to Lafayette if that's where they work.

For me I live Youngsville because I work in vermilion parish and it's easier to get there from Youngsville than it is Lafayette but if I had to do it over I'd probably move to Maurice which is the new Youngsville.

They have plenty of subdivisions that are custom homes.

It takes me 35 minutes to get to the sports complex and it’s 7 miles from my house

Is this the lowest in LA? Seems high, for a "good city."
