Is life experiences or things?

It's easy to say experiences, but I find myself worrying about making sure my retirement accounts are sufficiently funded first. What good is the money you put away if you're too old to enjoy it especially when tomorrow isn't promised? What is your thought?

Balance of both. No gaurentee you make it to retirement, have to live your life in the day but also be smart and put money away.

I too struggle with this. With family history and such, I doubt I live into my 70's or 80's to enjoy the money I will have put away into retirement.

Experiences are things.

And things are experienced.

This is where i am currently at. My dad passed away at 53 2-1/2 years ago. Thinking about buying my dream home in the country and making a go at it now vs after kids are grown and i retire.

People not providing for their own retirement is selfish and downright un-American.

92% of all working households are not meeting the conservative standards they should in order to retire. They are spending everything they make and planning to raise taxes on the rest of us to care for them in old age.

ETA: everyone says "can't take it with you! Enjoy it now!" In reality, it's far more likely that you will outlive your money and become a burden on everyone else.

When you get the Alzheimer's, you lose your experiences. Things OTOH are forever.
