I like eating by myself. Mealtime is for food, not talking.

Only for people with no self confidence or esteem and have to be around people all the time.
If you travel for work you are forced to. Why waste opportunities to eat at nice places just because you are solo?

I love eating by myself at a booth in a sit-down type restaurant. I do it with the hopes that some of you pricks with annoying little pissant kids will be annoyed in the same way you annoy me when I'm trying to quickly get through the security line at the airport.

As been said already, at the bar I find it quite common especially amongst the traveling folk. Depending on the restaurant table for 1 can be awkward. I am often suspicious of people who'd rather sit at a table for 1 than at the bar if they serve food there at the bar.
I get this is difficult for some people, I have had to personally counsel several people who upon having to travel alone would only eat in their hotel room. Some people are a combination of shy, insecure, and lack social dining sophistication. I feel as though once all the anxiety is relieved lots of people enjoy dining in social settings.
Bars at upscale restaurants are my personal favorite place to dine whether with my wife, friends, or alone.

If it is a really good steak house, I prefer to eat alone because talking only gets in the way of a great steak. Very rarely do I get to do it though.

My wife says it is, but I do it all the time.

I never could do it.

I eat alone all of the time at lunch but I will never sit at a table, always at the bar. That is also because I feel like it is kind of shitty for a person to take up a whole table unless it is a two top. At least at the bar it is meant to be free seating and you can usually bullshite with the bartender and not feel quite as much like a loser.

It's not weird, I'm a god and I do it.

I did this for the first time a few weeks ago. Had to run an errand at lunch and didn't feel like eating drive thru crap. It was quite enjoyable.
My husband is on the road all day for work and does it all the time.

I do it all the time, it is my preferred way of eating out, I can enjoy my meal without someone talking to me and having to pretend I am interested in what they are saying.

Do it frequently, but no so much at upscale places. Generally at pubs or HB joints.

No I've done it countless times....shite last weekend I went to go see Jason Isbell in concert by myself cause I couldn't find anyone else who wanted to pay that much and I had been really wanting to see him live for a long time
Have never felt uncomfortable or anything, prob cause I DGAF bout what people might think
IMO it's kinda sad if you have to depend on other people every single time to enjoy things in life
