Sounds heartless. Sorry, sir, I know you may drown or be killed by flying debris, but at least you won’t catch the coronavirus.

I hate JBE a lot, but if there's one thing I hate more than him, it's shite posts like this.

JBE had Obama use HARP to create Laura to punish and intimidate the good people of Louisiana

Not true. Tell those republicans on Facebook to stop lying to you.

He actually had order for the creation of Laura in order to drive out all of the Trump voters in South West Louisiana and didn't order evacuation shelters hoping they would all go out of state and stay there until the election is over.

I can’t stand the man, politics aside, he had our guard activated and mobilized. Those kids are sitting in trucks waiting for daybreak. I Strongly doubt he’d abandoned shelters.

Someone already made this joke, and much more succinctly I might add

They’re going to hotels. Do your homework.

As shitty as he’s been dealing with Covid and just about anything else he’s usually pretty solid when it comes to natural disaster prep

This was his original stance earlier in the week. He very well might have changed his mind once the storm got stronger.

But as for lodging: Those who live in Laura’s path are encouraged to find their own hotel room. As of now, Edwards has no plans to open state shelters—in part because COVID-19 is so highly contagious. Louisiana’s high infection rate this summer is outpacing Florida, Arizona, and New York; on Monday, the state reported 622 new cases of the disease and 18 new deaths.

“I will tell you, congregate sheltering in COVID is really a last resort—we still have the 15th or so highest caseload growth in the country and about the same highest positivity as well,” Edwards said at a briefing Monday, referring to the rate at which tests for the virus come back positive. “But we are doing better.”

If the situation changes as Laura closes in, shelters could open for families, who could be housed together in tents inside shelter facilities. “But still,” Edwards added, “even when you take the maximum precautions, it’s not a safe situation, so you wouldn’t want to do it unless it’s absolutely necessary.”

He opened the Marriott, Sheraton, and Riverside Hilton in New Orleans for evacuees that the state was busing over here. I’m dropping off donations today. If anyone has diapers, wipes, deodorant, socks, underwear, kids games, or anything like that you can drop them off at the hotels downtown.

Yep. Shite posts like this, no matter if they come from the Right or the Left, are symptoms of America's sickness and eminently hatable.

I am anything but a fan of JBE, but he is putting evacuees in hotels rather than shelters. Do your homework.

That’s what I was wondering. Thankfully the state reconsidered and found lodging for evacuees in need.
