re: Is it trashy to leave grocery carts in the middle of a parking lot?

Yes. Its trashy, but not as trashy as the people that empty the trash out of their car and leave it all over the parking lot. Those people are 2nd worst behind those that leave their kids in the car while they shop.

On a serious note, I only run to Wal-Mart and Lowe's for one-off items, so I don't need a cart. I get most everything else from Amazon, and for groceries I go to a local place store. The parking lot is probably 40-50 yards from the store entrance to the back, yet people still leave the carts.
I will walk mine and any others near me up to the front (there is no designated area in the lot), but I aggressively market my cart to others who are arriving in hopes that I don't actually have to walk all the way back.

Pretty trashy IMO. It's not hard to walk the damn thing where it's supposed to go.
It's one of my greatest pet peeves. I always put my cart where it's supposed to go. Not much will set me off more than when there's an open parking spot but there's a cart sitting in the middle of it

So do you also bring your dirty dishes to the kitchen when you eat dinner at a restaurant?

All you're doing is increasing their profit margins and discouraging better services.

Had this old woman at LeBlanc's who just had to fly into the parking spot next to me and couldn't wait 5 seconds for me to close my door, which wasn't open all the way.
Placed my cart behind her SUV as a sign of alpha passive aggressiveness and self-high fived all the way home.

Do we need a new thread to discuss when, if ever, this is acceptable? For instance, what if you have a vehicle that can be left running while it is locked AND you're in possession of the keys while you run in to grab an ICEE at a gas station?

Another story about LeBlanc's. Saw a woman smash into a shopping cart and send it flying into the side of a car.
She of course drove away.

You should talk to RB10 then...

I walk it up to the closest empty spot to the store and leave it right in the middle of that bitch.

It most commonly happens in the south so of course it's trashy as frick.
I saw a viscous wind storm blow through CO once and every loose cart turned into a high speed projectile. fricked up several cars in the parking lot.

I was really talking about the people that leave a car full of kids in the car at walmat, leave the windows down and the kids are hanging out of said windows and screaming and being loud AF.

I usually just walk home with my buggy

They have designated people to come get them.
In high school, I had a job as a bag boy at a local grocery store in Metairie. Part of the job was rounding up shopping carts to bring them back into the store. You must have been one of the people I silently cursed out under my breath while flashing a smile.

GTFO with this return the cart BS.
I don't think anyone is suggesting you should put it back under the covered area at Wal-Mart, but putting it in the designated cart areas should be standard operating procedure.
If you're going to seriously argue about the financials of cart returners, it is probably worth noting that few establishments actually have a designated cart person, mostly it is staff who assists when they're free. Second, if you argue that returning the carts increases their margins, then eventually the free market will expect lower costs for their products. I'd return every cart within 5 spaces all the way to the front door if it saved me $3 per trip.

I figured, I just didn't know how hard and fast the OT was with respect to leaving your kids in the car at all.
