Is it possible to drink yourself sober?

I think it is on a micro level, ie drinking for a long enough period in a day that you comeback toward clarity of thought with return of vision; however, on a macro level me not sure. Can you be such a lush that you disgust yourself or you get sick and tired of boozing it up and become a responsible drinker, equaling a whore becoming a serious church lady? Not in an AA since but just transition from hardcore drinking to light to moderate drinking? Asking for a friend...

If I couldn’t do it this Christmas Eve then there is no chance it will ever happen for me.

Yes it’s very common. Start out pounding liquor in the morning then in the afternoon/evening only drink light beer and you’ll definitely sober up
