I have bought two.
ZERO problems.
Enterprise
they are great to work with. you can look online for one or you can just tell the sales person what you are open to and they will let you know as ones like your preference are becoming available.
as with any car sale, they are going to try to sell you a warranty.
you can get one much later from some other company.
I presume your car will be well within warranty of the manufacturer

I guess those two can go together as well...
We purchased an '06 Tahoe, in 06 (last year they made that rounded body style) with a little over 9k miles on it. Turns out it was a rental... Didn't have one issue with it... Wife still driving it...

I noticed that when I was running the vin numbers on possible cars from the dealerships.
Well as of 4-5 years ago, the Enterprise brand owned around 2 million vehicles. They get used for around a year and hit the market in some form or fashion. Most of them are taken care of pretty well as the maintenance records go into how a branch is "graded".

Most rentals end up being sold wholesale or at auction and they get bought by dealers and stuck on their own used car lots for sale to the public and you'd never know it was a rental. Many times these are the ones the rental company deemed unacceptable to sell to the public on their own lots.
So, in reality if you are buying directly from a rental company you are likely getting the best of the best of their inventory. They wouldn't be in business long if they had a reputation of selling shite cars. I have had a few family members buy rentals and would do it again.
this is why you buy a truck. there aren't many as rentals

What kind of sorcery is this? Can't keep mine in anything longer than 2-3 years

Not one that I've rented. Plus, they all smell like a black church and cigarettes

While this is true, there are still plenty of them.

Because I make sure all the maintenance gets done on it...

People do some fricked up shite with rental cars that they wouldn't do with their own car so I would be careful.

So many hard core bad arse drivers post here
Posted on 3/28/17 at 4:58 pm to pioneerbasketball
depends on the car and the price and the mileage.
Rental cars get abused. But they are also very well maintained.
That maintenance can make up for the random crazy drivers.

I bought a minivan at CarMax in 2009 that was a rental and had 7K miles on it. It was an 08 model. Put 155K more miles on it and just recently sold it. Had basically no problems until 130K miles and then it's been acting up lately, mainly electrical, which is why we finally got rid of it.
But I guess a rental minivan is probably driven better than a rental sports car.
