That's like the entirety of Bucktown because the streets aren't wide enough to park on without blocking.

Illegal in JP to park on grass or to block sidewalk, but its almost never enforced. Call code enforcement if you want to make a complaint.

Never seen tickets for it but you can put out stone garden pavers like the uppity folks in Old Metairie.

then how come people hold their street parking hostage sometimes with cones and shite, can they legally do that, can you move their fricking cones and ribbons along street and park there?

In my neighborhood, a few are digging up the grass and putting down limestone. I park up there, sometimes, and I have a fire hydrant, when Rummel is playing at the stadium. Most times I just park one wheel up on the curb and usually facing the direction of traffic.
I've never heard the term hell strip. Always called it the servitude.

yes, you can move the cones. Your car will probably get keyed however.

Code enforcement fines the owner of the property, so it will not affect the people that own the vehicles.

I know people who lived close to a school and their street was designated no parking in front of their house (with no driveway) so the police who wrote them a ticket told them to park on the servitude and it's legal.
This wasn't in metairie but it was a JPSO on the eastbank.
