I'd say it's about equal. A twenty year old doesn't have the same life experiences as a forty year old. She may be just as smart but doesn't 'get' the same things he does. It comes across as her not being as smart.

IQ/Educational differences are a bigger deal long term. A 20 year age gap will be less important as you age. The IQ difference isn’t going to get less significant in the long term.
