If only someone had posted a link in this thread that shows so many people claim to be looking for work.
If only...

On the contrary, in the year 2022 you have plenty of choices relative to the way things “used” to be. That’s the reason this thread exists. 15/hour is not competitive in a major metro market. If you are getting any bites at all you are getting the absolute bottom of the barrel employees that are somehow even less attractive as candidates than someone who simply has no experience or higher level education.
For 15/hr in a place like Houston you are probably looking at people who didn’t finish high school and/or have been in and out of prison.

And companies post jobs all the time. Just because people aren't taking them doesn't mean they don't exist.
I would say you know that, but at this point I'm not sure. You could be just being an a-hole becuase your a lonely sad fricker, or you could be an absolute moron. Hard to tell.

quote:Yes easy to say "get an education" when tuition and housing cost 800 hours of min wage in your day but it costs 3,000 hours now.
If you have no skills and/or education, you don't have many choices. If only there were ways of fixing that.

You do know you're posting in a thread where the entire premise is that a business is having trouble filling a position because they're offering below market value?

Roger has the critical thinking skills of a 15/hr employee in the year 2022.

idk if unemployment numbers matching (and trending lower) than pre-pandemic is the trump card you think it is.

Except millions are unemployed, and jobs are available.
Seems like we have a match made in heaven here. I believe that's the entire topic of this thread.
Anyone wanting to work can work.

The real unemployment rate was 7% in April, 0.1 percentage points higher than in March. This alternate measure of unemployment, known as U-6, gives a broader definition of unemployment. It includes people who would like to find a job but haven't looked for one in the past month. It also includes those who are underemployed and marginally attached.7
The real unemployment rate in April 2022 includes 456,000 discouraged workers, increasing from 373,000 in March 2022, and down from 562,000 a year ago.6 Discouraged workers are people who have given up looking for work but would take a job if offered. They are not counted in the unemployment rate, because they haven't looked for a job in the past four weeks.
Strange, people looking for work, jobs available...

Probably because you don't understand what its showing.
Jobs are available, and people are claiming they can't find work. Why is that hard for you?
If these people want jobs, they are available.
These people don't want jobs.

Workers are available. Why don't businesses just hire them?

It's actually a match made in hell. The specific job in the OP is below market hence not being filled.

Sure, but they aren't because some jobs aren't high enough on the demand curve.

They don't want to pay worthless employees $30/hour, and can't afford to. The unemployed right now, are basically unemployable.
they'd be better off shutting doors than losing money, which is what is on the horizon.

Employees don't want to work worthless jobs for $15/hour, and can't afford to.

Based on what metrics?

But they aren't losing money.

Now we're getting somewhere.
If I walk around tiger stadium before a #1 Alabama vs #2 LSU matchup and offer to pay face value for tickets, no one is selling to me! There are plenty of tickets available, so why am I not getting them?

They have no leverage. No skill, no education.
No initiative.

that number is also nearing historic lows. No matter what there will be some percentage of the country unemployed.

they might not have skill or education but since companies are paying warm bodies $17 they have some leverage
