You call that living?
j/k. See that's where Gen Z gets this messed up. $15/hr is not supposed to be a wage to support you and your kids and your weed habit and your avocado toast.
It's a surviving wage, not a comfortable wage.

Maybe we should roll regulations back to the 1950s, build more small housing, slow illegal immigration, secure local supply chains and allow people to live more independently.

It is amazing how entitled the younger generation is.

Exactly, for a year or so. Just long enough to prove myself at the new job and get a raise.

You want the government to regulate what size houses builders can build?

Yeah if you had a roommate, of course things would be easier. Because half of your rent would be covered. If you were alone, you’d be in the hole.
Also, your gas price is too low unless you walk to work. $100 on gas a month is pre-Biden. It’s been a while, but I imagine with todays inflation, $400 a month food food is eating some protein and ramen and maybe a 12 pack on the occasion? $75 split two ways for electric sounds like you wouldn’t be living in the south, or you have an energy efficient apartment (which you won’t be getting at $1,000 a month).
Your also assuming that all deposits for everything is taken care of and not a factor. You have a well run car that doesn’t need maintenance. Your missing a lot here.

As I'm sitting on my front porch drinking coffee and smoking some high test whilst thinking about this, it really is interesting.
For all of humankind, people were focused on surviving. We have now become so soft that survival is inadequate and a minimum quality of life is now required. WTF is this?
You won the MFing lottery to be in the United States in this modern day and age. I blame social media for all of these no talent influences, singers, etc that live an obtainable lifestyle with no work or effort.
Seriously. We all won the fricking lottery by not being born in some 3rd world shite hole. How more entitled can one think they are?

No. They need to allow zoning so smaller, more high density housing can be built.
Municipal housing regs are to protect property owners, not help home buyers.

He was asked to show his work, he did. Now, they start throwing qualifiers out there. Pack of clown you people are.

Because you have a limited future at Target, where a non retail industry will probably have a higher ceiling, better coworkers and less stress.
Short sightedness is a hallmark of a zoomer.

90% tax bracket
The effective rate on the top 1% was about 42%.

You (and just about everyone else) are kind of missing the point of the thread
It’s not that $15/hour isn’t livable or comfortable or whatever and people shouldn’t take it for that reason . It’s that it’s not a competitive wage in May 2022 and OP/op’s company needs to quit bitching and adapt

Lmao excuses don’t win in a competitive market. Sorry boomer

reinstate the 90% tax bracket for $150K as well?
That led to two recessions? frick no. Its stunning how ignorant you people are.
Kennedy and Johnsons "trickle down" tax reform led to economic expansion in the 1960s.

Easy.
Your car is paid for and never needs repairs, oil changes, tires, battery, wiper blades, brakes, etc and gets great mileage
You and your roommate are fine talking to each other every single day with nothing to watch, read, or do
You never buy clothes, furniture, or anything really
Your grocery budget of ~$4/meal also covers toiletries, cleaning supplies, etc
Nothing unexpected ever happens in your life
So yeah I guess if you have a free car that lasts forever with zero maintenance and gets great mileage and your free clothes and free furniture never wear out and you have zero friends or entertainment and you don't go anywhere or do anything other than work and cook and nothing out of the ordinary ever happens to you, you might be able to survive on $15/hr.
As it happens, though, most of us have to pay for things, and of that $470 you thought you had $150 pays the note on your beater of a car, oil changes work out to $20/month, misc other maintenance easily another $20, maybe you can eke by on $10 thrift store clothing and donated furniture. Hope parking is free at home and at work. Then I guess you can tuck the remaining $9/day into the bank for a rainy day. You're going to need to save up for an umbrella.

There is honestly probably more of a future for someone at Target than his warehouse. Yes I see it was a Fortune 500 company, that doesn’t mean there is upward mobility or room for advancement for someone who qualifies only for a puller.
