From the workers point of view, yes. It is essential that they be able to pay bills, buy food and provide for their families. There will be a point to where the bureaucrats will destroy the economy to the point where many segments may never recover.

Here's my example.

My husband is a farmer. He has to get fuel delivered on a regular basis so the delivery drivers have to be out and working. He has things that break and need repair -- maybe welding, or a mechanic or the like -- some he can do but some he cannot so THOSE people have to be out. Other things break and need replacement parts -- THAT store is essential to getting the parts to get the equipment repaired. HE NEEDS these things to be able to grow a crop to feed people. Unless you think that food comes from the grocery store.

Just my little example of why it can't just be grocery stores & pharmacies.

Guess who was one of the hardest hit during the Great Depression? Farmers!

No one had money to buy what they produced. Many lost their farms to the bank, because they had no revenue. We are on a VERY slippery slope, right now. Most don't even realize had bad this is, and sleep well because the "government" is going to give us money while we can't earn.

As the money printers are working overtime, how long before Granny's SS check and pension isn't enough to keep the lights, much less buy food?

I guess candlelight and gubment cheese is around the corner in our future.

Always got to be at least one jerk trying to be Mr. Tough Guy. I’m glad liquor stores are open, just don’t see how they are essential.

It’s legal to cut your own hair. It’s illegal and dangerous to make your own liquor.

Well just don’t drink it then. Stock up or make your own beer.

Someone on my neighborhood facebook page showing off their snowball, and about TEN people chimed in that they needed to go get one.

I like beer and liquor as much as anyone, but no one could ever convince me that booze is essential while hair salons are not.

The reasoning is this: Abruptly limiting access to alcohol could lead to an increase in withdrawal among people with severe alcohol use disorder and add to the burden on the healthcare system.

Hair cuts can wait. The person cutting your hair actually has to touch you...and the person before you and so on. Their instruments also touch multiple people. Unfortunately, it is a profession that can spread a virus. One of my friends is a hair stylist. It will be a difficult time for him. I'll be sending him my normal fee via PayPal every 3 weeks.

Seriously. Do you really have to ask this? Sex toy/porn shops are businesses. Do you think that is an essential business? A candle shop.. You think that is an essential business? A massage parlor. You think people will not be able to survive if they are not able to have a massage?

That doesn't mean they are essential a-hole.
