No; not even close. No energy company is as bad as PG&E.

Watts Bar 2 has had issues, itll be the last gen 2. VC Summer is having investor problems, long shot to get done.

There's some talk about Bellefonte starting up again with a Canadian consortium.

Vogle 3&4 are on the books for next 5 years but I wouldnt bet on it happening

Too much regulation ....tough to convince investors to commit to investing billions for a 20-25 year return on something that isnt profitable now...making MW for 35/hr, selling for 33/hr.

Too easy to throw up NG combined cycle in 2-2 1/2 years and profit

I wonder if deregulating the marketing, account setup, service calls would give an opportunity for better operations and metrics from Entergy without an increase in price to consumer. Let them focus on utilities and not customer service. These utility companies seem hard to hold to account given the overarching contracts and our dependence on them. So, it might also be worth looking inward at the government folks who manage the contract to make sure they are delivering and impose real consequences for bad metrics.

Exactly what is done in Texas. Centerpoint deals with generation and distribution. While retail providers do the marketing, billing, trading on the open market, etc... It was a little weird at first but at the same time you can choose a rate plan that fits your energy consumption patterns.

sorry for the bump.

How would deregulating that portion of the business make them less accountable? You have the choice to switch when deregulation occurs. You can monitor the wholesale price and pick a service that best fits your consumer needs.

Wouldn’t the distributors also be able to put more pressure on the power company to keep wholesale prices in check? Open for debate, I’m not 100% sure the best answer.

Entergy is far from the worst, I would go work for them well before anyone in Texas.

That's putting it nicely, old tech too.

Seriously doubt it, that all fell apart hard.

Be nice if we could get another pump storage.

Different animal.

In fairness to you, OP didn't really define what he meant by "power company."

US utility Georgia Power has ordered the first fuel load for unit 3 of the Vogtle nuclear power plant. The unit - one of two Westinghouse AP1000 reactors under construction at the site in the state of Georgia - is scheduled to enter service in November 2021.

Entergy and the Sewerage and Water Board are the two worst utilities in the country.

As an investment, though, they've had quite a run. They definitely know how to consolidate acquisitions, cut costs, etc.

Spot on. I worked for Entergy for 34 years before I retired a few years back. I spent the last 13 in the two Nuclear plants in Louisiana. When they purchased the northern plants they were making a killing because all those plants were deregulated so they could charge what they want. When the fracking industry got to be so productive and natural gas prices were extremely cheap the northern plants were not cost efficient anymore. They suck to work for but it gave me a good living.

Now, I read somewhere this week that they are selling those northern plants to companies that specialize in decommissioning for a loss since it is cheaper to shut down than continue operations, but I guess they were laughing all the way to the bank in yearly profits from those plants.

No wonder, Entergy is looking to build out new plants in its service territory now that it will have fewer generating assets.

I just wish they would spread out their generation stations so that they are not just consolidated in on the River. For example, the bayou area gets its power from plants in the river area.

If there is any major issue with one of those high voltage transmission lines, I would be very concerned. Now, I can say that, I do not believe those transmission lines have ever had major problems especially during a hurricane, but I could be wrong.

Only the city of Houma has a power generation plant and a share in a plant in Morgan City. The plant in Morgan City uses Entergy’s distribution network to get power back to Houma and the city of Houma also buys power from the grid at times which of course uses Entergy's lines.

I’d say this company is worse.
