re: Is Dorian bringing a dry heat wave?

That's not how this works.
Just high pressures building back in after the troughs that will take Dorian out to sea eventually. It's the typical summer pattern.
And yes, we can get into the mid 90s even with those mid 70s dew points as the sinking air from the high pressure tends to keep storms at bay.

September is hot as balls every year
That's the way it has always been and until early October do we see some semblance of fall..Count on cutting grass regularly until mid/late November.

the south is getting sinking air, which heats from compression.
What?
Starting from the same temperature (the baseline), under high pressure you will have higher temperature. Under low pressure you will have lower temperature. Just physics.

I’ve always said these were the two longest, most miserable months of the year. The dog days of summer and then some.
If you’ve always said that you’re either wrong or young. An early to mid September cold front used to be fairly reliable until quite recently.
I’m talking lower 60s in BR.

We had a great front come through the second week of September in 2015. It was right before the LSU/Mississippi State game and it made it chilly for that one.
You'll get a September front every once in a while. They're always a welcomed surprise.

On Tropical Tidbits the the GFS model is showing a front coming through BR the night before the NW St. game setting up for a beautiful saturday. I hope they are right.

At least the sun will be dipping down for the LSU/UT game and both teams will be covered by the stadium shadow.
Clemson/A&M is going to be miserable. They play at 2:30. It might get to 115 on the field.

The players from both teams practice in very hot climates. I'd imagine if it were a team from Oregon or Northern California it would be pretty rough on them.

Yeah I’m wondering the attendance down the road in Columbia for the South Carolina/ Charleston Southern game at 12. Lol
