the discussion is about alerting private residences. there are 11, with a 12th, places you can on concealed carry. you can walk in a business and no one will know, you dont have to alert ayone and you o about your business. But if you walk into a privte residences, by law you have to alert the owner of said private residence and get permission to have it. the permission from private business deals more with open carry. In LA you have the right to walk into any store with a gun on your hip. BUT the moment you are asked to leave, you have to do so.

Yep, no argument here. It's not my home- it's theirs. Any reasonable person will respect that.

As for the businesses, I personally don't spend money where I know going in I'm assumed to be some type of "threat", if there are other options- which there usually are. So it's not a big deal to me.

I love the logic from gun nuts that you can never be too prepared so you need a gun even if you live in a safe suburb and don't do anything high risk.

Obesity causes all sorts of health problems and even death but 36.2% of Louisiana is fat as frick. I don't see these gun owners saying they need to eat a salad just in case when they are hundreds times more likely to die of obesity related health issues than they are to have to defend themselves with a gun.

Plain and simple for the majority of people who carry it's just a way to feel powerful and relevant.

You’re unfathomably stupid.

If you enter a business and they know you’re carrying concealed, you’re doing it wrong.

I carry everyday. I refuse to be the person that gets caught in an active shooter situation without a means of protecting myself. How would you feel if you were licensed to carry, weren't carrying, and all hell breaks loose?

You're going to have that on both sides of every argument.

That can't possibly be any more schoolyard childish than equating gun ownership to having small genitals.

Suppose I used that in the same way that people blame all policemen/gun owners/Republicans for problems cause by the few...The several rational posts in here were overshadowed by the guy who essentially openly carries his CC weapon

“Several” rational posts?

Every post defending CCW has been rational.

I don't speak made up progressive groupthink. You're going to have to define it for me in your words.

Discussions like this are a nice reminder why I am thankful I live in a "shall issue" state, instead of a "may issue" one....

When did progressive groupthink start? Here is a definition of "gun nut" from Urban Dictionary that was submitted over 12 years ago.

quote:

A person who takes a keen interest in firearms and ammunition, possibly including the study, peer discussion, ownership, bearing and use thereof - usually used playingly by oneself or by other firearms enthusiasts in this sense. Often associates with people with similar interests.

Have you never heard of that colloquialism? It's not just used in regards to guns, FYI. The funny thing is that I was the one being called emotional, but it seems like a few people have been "offended" by the phrase "gun nut" in this thread.
