Buc-ees is all about the experience!

Which wears off after a few visits. It's like an overpriced country fair and mall food court had a baby with 200 gas pumps.

They may be the best gas stations and have the cleanest restrooms but in no way are they such an attraction that you should make plans around stopping at one on vacation.

If you have to get gas, and there is one on the way, then you should stop. However, don't do so if it's the afternoon on a weekend because that will be a zoo

That of course allowed the local and state politicians to get involved and make demands. When the flood hit that area in 2016, that gave Buc-ee's the chance to break their agreement with the landowner / developer. It was an easy out for them. The flood issues could have been worked around, but they were pissed they wanted out so used the out the flood gave them. The experience was so bad that they have basically said LA is no longer in their expansion plans, and are now working on more in AL/FL/GA/TN.

This is exactly what I've been told by my contact at Bucees corporate office. They won't be opening anything in Louisiana for the foreseeable future

Their bathrooms are very nice, but there is so much constant in and out going on there you won't have any peace while you're on the pooper.

All of the ones I've been to have solid walls and doors for each shitter stall with plenty of room in each. Very peaceful IMO

I thought Buc-ee's #1 was in Lake Jackson?

It might be. I know their corporate is in Lake Jackson but that Freeport location got to be popular with Houston people coming down to fish offshore in the 90's because of the cheap ice and clean restrooms. Then they started with the whole Beaver marketing strategy and also started opening up bigger stores with much more selection of food products/clothing/sporting goods/fueling options and their business exploded.

The original Bucee's and two others here are doing a booming business. I have not seen any slacking off even during the restrictions. Also the lines at the local Chip-a-Fila have been a lot longer than usual from the moment it opens until it closes.
