I've never been but it's prob up there. I know a ton of guys who spend their entire salary on vehicles, clothes, and corner bar. Lafayette ppl for the most are the worse try hards that I've ever been around. They're not ALL like that of course so those who aren't plz don't get offended and jump all over me. If your from Laffy and don't live that life style you can prob agree with all of this. Growing up Laffy was the closest city but we just bypassed and went on down I10 to BR.

lafayette is definitely a weird place. its like a revolving door of stupid fads that last years.

I've lived here for 5+ years and I can agree with this. I still don't understand why guys here wear chick jeans.

So never go to the prop stop or tin lizzy's? You can keep going about wasting your life if you want...

I like Corner Bar. Stanley runs a good place, and I see people I know, who I assure you, have worn suits more than once.

But my favorite are the running drinkers who stop there after a long group run, and the Grand and Reds runoff.

Seems like the weirdness of Lafy is what happens when you take mostly good Cajun folk and inject relatively sudden wealth into the equation for 2-3 generations.

I rotate between Corner, Hut, Lafonda, Pour, and Agave for my day drinking

Some of the descriptions of laffy folks are spot on in this thread. It's the craziest phenomenon. You really have to experience it a good bit over a good while to get the scope of it. The person that mentioned shitty fades lasting for years there is correct. Almost like a jersey shore enclave in south la.

I have a friend that just moved back to Nola and has been in laffy for years and he doesn't even realize the white oakleys and NI haircut isn't normal. It's like he got brainwashed.

Are you referring to the good ole baws that have their faded back pockets bedazzled?

The week nights are better. It's really crowded on the weekends, but so many people come and go in and out of there on crowded nights makes it impossible to really nail down a "type" of patron.

I go to LaFonda for the food, not so much the bar. Those margs will knock you on your arse.

Yeah, I have to agree, the bartenders have never given me reason to complain

Corner bar is certainly the worst bar in Louisiana. I stopped going there after the third time they charged me for drinks I didn't order.

That isn't even normal in Lafayette. Jesus, this is dumbest OT meme out there.

No one actually from Lafayette dresses like that. It's like if I would start a bunch of threads accusing New Orleans of being trashy because I met some dudes from Chalmette and Marrero.

If there's something to make fun of Lafayette for it's the young(ish) hipsters who are unbearable to be around but have started up some really cool places, mostly restaurants, and the new rich people with bad taste who can now not sell their homes because the oilfield tanked.

I've always thought the bartenders there were pretty good, and most people I know that go there would tend to agree. I'll admit that Corner Bar does attract some of the folks in Lafayette that can be a little annoying or that try to hard. However, it's really not that bad. It's always clean, has plenty of TVs, seating inside and out, and I don't think I've been there on a weekend before where there hasn't been a ton of good looking women.

Disclaimer: Not an oilfield baw and don't have a New Iberia Haircut.
