I have a lot of respect for Ben Watson. He is a great man.

I'll always remember him chasing down that guy on the would-be pick six in the 2005 AFC Divisional game against Denver.

Humor me. How many tight ends in the league have posted more impressive combine numbers? He ran a sub 4.6 40 at 260 lbs with a 35.5 vertical and 34 reps on bench.

To be perfectly clear, I’m not saying Watson isn’t a top 10 most athletic te. I’m saying there’s a better chance you’ll find an argument that there are 10 more athletic te’s in nfl history than there is you’ll find an argument that Watson is a top 10 most athletic player in nfl history.

For example, I don’t think this is the definitive ranking by any means but relative athletic scores ranks him the #27 TE in their lists. That should at least say there’s an argument. LINK

Probably not. But there are more than 10 players in the history of the nfl that have put up more impressive numbers. Just off the top of my head I’d guess these guys:

Bo Jackson
Herschel Walker
Vernon Davis
Calvin Johnson
Vernon Gholston
JJ Watt
Myles Garrett
Montez Sweat
Taylor Mays
DK Metcalf

I was referring to his physical gifts that could be displayed in a combine setting. Pure athletic ability.

I don't think he is a top 10 tight end as a player.

For instance consider the following obviously true statement : Fournette is more athletically gifted than Emmitt Smith. Doesn't mean he is a better running back. Just more athletically gifted.

I’m not hating on him bc I appreciate his views and think he could be a great role model for the black community but he’s super overrated in regards to his intelligence

A duke conditioned Zion would have been the best tight end the league has ever seen

That kicker competition is fierce, I cant believe they let them compete in some of those. It looks like QBs vs Kickers for bragging rights

That bench press is fantastic...much lower on the squat than I'd guess, but he's fast.

Without his appendicitis we probably win a super bowl and Drew rides off into the sunset

Instead we get the worst no-call in the history of sports
