It’s an apples to oranges topic since most SEC schools are in much smaller cities or towns where the school is the only thing or by far the biggest thing going. Knoxville and Columbia SC are probably the only good comps. I’d say Knoxville is better geographically and demographically but if it wasn’t kind of in/near the mountains it would be just another dump. Columbia is about the same as BR. Like BR, it gets hated on by the rest of the state.

If we are being unbiased Oxford, Auburn and Athens are probably the best SEC school cities.

Starkville may be boring and small, but it’s definitely not a shite hole in so far as crime or trashyness. It’s actually quite nice. Very clean and crime free.

There is a very defined ghetto area of Starkville that you want to stay away from.

Also--you ever been to the Wal-mart in Starkville? Trash capital of the world.

Austin is worse. I ventured down 6th last year and it was a mix of Portland and Chicago. Even with a heavy police presence all they can do is control the chaos and hopefully render aid if/when some homeless tweaker stabs you.

wouldn't it be neat if you lived in a place where you didn't have to put your kids in private schools?

If you think a person earning in excess of $15MM/year is putting their child in public schools…anywhere…not sure I can have a serious discussion with you.

I agree with you in regard to multimillionaires; I was speaking to the general population needing to send their children to private schools

If I had Kiffin's money, I'd pick BR over most SEC towns.

Then I agree with you completely.

I thought this thread was about the coaching job at LSU. My only point was that person will not have to deal with the issues that the normal every day citizen will have to deal with.

Apologies if I misunderstood.

you mean terrible traffic, infrastructure, and crime?

Every employee and student at LSU has to deal with that. No one gets a free pass

You are sadly mistaken. Norman has a lot of character and there’s plenty to do, especially the close proximity to OKC. The only negative on Norman is abundant liberal stench.

UGA might be the best school in the SEC but athens isn't the best college city/town in the SEC.

BR isn’t awful, but you couldn’t pay me a million bucks to live there.

Coming from you, strangely I’m not offended at all. Now go change your diaper and drink your ensure out of your sippy cup.
