Help settle a debate at work, many of the baws from across the river are claiming that Baton Rouge is not Cajun but in fact full blown redneck country.

The map does clearly show that ebr is located clearly in “plantation country” but my arguement is that enough people from west of the river drive in for work everyday that it is de facto Cajun country. What day the ot

Baton Rouge = redneck and trashy.

St. George = prominent and classy.

Yup. I'm from BR and am not Cajun or redneck.

Most people I knew in BR were also not Cajun or redneck.

Neither. It's sort of a melting pot. Some of the suburbs are definitely redneck.

Baton Rouge is the capital, so people from all over the state are drawn there for work, school, or other connections.

It's the gumbo of the state.

So the parish that includes Napoleonville, Belle River, and Pierre Part is not Cajun according to this map.

I'd say neither. I'm from southwest LA and that is what I call cajun. BR is kind of just a generic city that happens to be in Louisiana.

It’s neither. Most Baton Rouge natives don’t even have a southern accent. More of a neutral accent.
