I have several friends in La that missed out on very lucrative careers that would have afforded the flexibility and quality of life to live in La, go back to La any time they wanted, do pretty much whatever they wanted whenever they wanted because mama couldn't bear the thought of being more than five minutes away from mama, very sad and short sighted

ETA: seems deferred gratification is not a thing with these people

Or you know, great opportunity outside of a shithole. But yeah we'll go with that one.

Certainly not saying texas or one particular state is the move for everyone. But man the trajectory of Louisiana as a whole is bad bad.

At some point someone has to break the cycle and not let family keep them in a failing dogshit state. My kid's upbringing and the opportunities that come with living in a growing/thriving area are just too much to pass up.

I don't want my kids to feel like they have to stay in shithole Louisiana because I'm there.

It’s not. Maybe 1 or 2 that are happy so I was exaggerating, trying to get my point across. It’s the truth, you can believe it or not. I will never entertain the thought of marriage again in my life. Too many cons for men. I’m genuinely happy for those that are happy with their marriage and wish them happiness for the rest of their lives.

This is like a carbon copy of what I'm talking about. Several friends in this same story.

We have several friends/family members with marriages in the shitter. Common denominator seems to be no communication or unwillingness to leave a bad situation (fear of change). And no one is open to counseling.

i don't have many ties here and i don't see myself here in ten years. i'm not some FamilyFishingFootball homer retard, but i just can't blame people for not wanting to move away from their parents and the rest of their family and friends for a 20% raise. that said, i want to move to vermont or new hampshire and i don't have any friends or family there so .

seconded.

Our lives are super stressful right now. Trying to grow businesses and wealth in our 30s so we arent working past 60 is difficult.

Its a grind but worth it imo.

Scared for the future of the country though. shite gets weirder by the day, with no end in sight.

Yep. Happily married and we have a little girl. I swear the people who are miserable and hate marriage are probably the same ones that work 12 hours a day and think that’s all they have to do for their wife to love them.

I have a few buddies that bitch and moan about how their wives don’t give them head anymore and “aawww she tricked me! I said it would never happen to me but it did! Women are all the same!”
Like, no dude, you grew a gross arse beard, let your hair grow out, gained 50 pounds, stopped doing little things to show how much you appreciate her and do nothing to help her out at home because you think having a job is enough.

It’s not fricking rocket science.

It’s ok - we’ve had a few chances to leave and something always happens - not gonna lie - I’ve thought about picking up the kids and going a few times but it’s not fair to the kids and it’s selfish of me
