re: Investigators When they KNEW Murdaugh lied (Page 112)

I've loosely followed the trial and watched the HBO documentary. With that being said, I feel that one of the most convincing pieces of evidence of AM's guilt is his jailhouse phone calls with Buster. In one of the calls, he encourages Buster to go back out to Moselle and hunt. To me that gives an insight into AM's mind and his knowledge of the crime. AM knows there is no threat to his family anymore. If he truly is innocent and does not know the killer, there's no way he would encourage Buster to go back out to the place where the rest of his family was brutally murdered. I know there are plenty of other pieces of evidence tying him to the crime but I think that state of mind during the call is telling.

This could well be true, but the defense presented no evidence of that theory (obviously because it would implicate Alex). So, this theory of Alex being involved but not shooting can't be used as an argument for reasonable doubt, because there's no evidentiary basis for that defense
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if he is involved even if he didn't pull the trigger he is still guilty.
I think the point is moot b/c he didn't hire someone to do this. If you hired someone to kill your wife and son why would you have them do it while you're hanging out. You'd be off out of town on a fishing trip or something when it went down.

OJ Simpsons take on the Murdaugh trial....yeah, you read that correctly.
Lol yeah. I posted it earlier on page 83.

He would be guilty of something, but likely not what he's been charged with. It depends on his involvement. He could be an accessory to murder, either before or after the fact. It could be a murder for hire, etc... There wasn't any evidence presented of that by the defense, and that's not what the State charged him with.

OJ made sense. Crazy world. Did you see Ellick talk to his sister Lynn at the end? She didn't give him a book.
If The Bubba tape don't fit you must acquit.
I am joking ya'll that are set in stone one way. I already said, with what they charged him with (and not felony murder, conspiracy murder) Because they had no hard evidence for it, just cousin Eddie speculations. It will be a shocker if he is found guilty.
Any way... The jury is still out. Who has the chicken coop to have brought eggs in? If I am there. I would milk it for some chick-fil-a or Smithfields BBQ and then render the verdict.
Reddit got two rumors correct, one rumor wrong. So I will kinda trust them if they hear the jury has reached a verdict and if MabelSueElly got her eggs back.

What rumors?

Go to the link I just posted. And look for rumors in bold and the outlandish rumor that never happened.
Rumors that already happened regarding the juror saying she thinks Ellick is innocent to an outsider and someone reported her. So she was fired and replaced.
The judge was in meetings last night with the lawyers.

know it's highly praised, but they spent way too much time on the boat crash. The repetition was tiresome.
I thought so too at first but apparently there's going to be a second half covering the trial and murders in depth so that was really just part 1

Defense I'm sure didn't love that

That's a damn good point.

I was listening this morning when Judge announced and DC was PISSED and let the court know it.

If the jury comes back with not guilty, can AM be charged and tried for conspiracy to murder?
I know he can’t be charged with murder again. But can the state change their theory and try him on conspiracy? Do they need new evidence to charge him with any crimes related to their death? What’s the rules here since my understanding is he’s only charged with the murders.

I think the financial crimes that he’s openly admitted to would be more cost effective for the state to pursue and the sentence would probably be longer than a conspiracy sentence

Offhand, I'd say yes.

In its 1992 decision in United States v. Felix, the United States Supreme Court held that where the jury convicted the defendant of substantive offenses based on certain overt actions, a later prosecution for conspiracy supported by these actions did not create a double jeopardy violation.

As someone who has been on many campuses with law schools, broken the law thousands of times, seen hours of YouTube videos regarding legal issues, and, lastly, watched some Law and Order in it's various iterations, I have no idea.

Another issue that signals guilty to me is the fact that AM did a 2hr ride along with Paul..... Not something that was routinely done. As a Dad, it kinda screams a goodbye visit to me. It makes me uncomfortable thinking about it and being the day he died sure screams guilty to me.

Someone asked this very same question the other nite on some TV show and the answer amongst everyone was a resounding ‘no’.

If South Carolina is a red state he's going to be found guilty, if SC is blue he will be something else. Yes everything is political
