doubt that’s credible. Otherwise, Netflix would have mentioned it.
Actually it's been spoken about quite often in the state and especially among those that knew Smith. It came up in interviews with police and that's why they have reopened the case.

must have overlooked that part. I know he really wanted Maggie to come out there that night. IIRC, she sent a text to someone saying that Alex was acting funny or up to something.
Yeah she told her friend something was fishy and that she knew Alex was up to something. Randy murdaugh told Paul he needed to go to Moselle out of respect for his dad... I'm sure that weighs heavily on him.

I think they believe they can convict him. The Colleton County jury pool is not as tied to the Murdaughs as a Hampton County or even a Jasper County jury would be. Even though they border each other, most of Colleton County is tied to Charleston. The Hampton crowd is more tied to Beaufort.
What would Pat Conroy have made of this case? Some of the characters seem straight off his pages to me.

It was mentioned in the Netflix doc.

I started watching the Netflix show on it last night. The murders were only a few days before Paul was due in court for the boating accident.

The judge was getting ready to rule that Alex had to open his bank accounts to the Beach families attorney plus he was questioned by his law partners about missing money that morning. He knew it was all about to collapse so, imo, he killed them to take the focus off of himself and buy time for him. His wife was going to divorce him and probably had caught on to his money issues. Killing Paul may have led to the civil lawsuit being dropped , in his mind yet it blew it up worse and he just kept digging himself a bigger hole.

The son that was killed was a massive douche bag and the world is better off without him.
I don’t know what the hell it is, but I’ve always found well to do, rich white kids with red hair to be the most insufferable, pompous, “do you know who my dad is?” douches in the world.

I can’t believe he just killed family members and thought he wouldn’t be the prime suspect.

What did his son say on Snapchat prior to his death?

Just FYI... I think several LawTubers will be covering this trial live
Emily D. Baker, Nick Rekieta, etc.
Can definitely confirm Legal Mindset on YouTube will have live coverage for the trial with Legal Vices joining him
Mindset already has a stream created and ready to go when things kick off in the morning (I think jury voir dire starts tomorrow, maybe?)

You're talking about a man who's whole life was the power in that county. The Murdaugh family was untouchable for decades. I'm sure he thought he could direct the narrative like he had his whole life and most likely would have if SLED hadn't gotten involved.

There are a couple of podcasts covering the Murdaugh saga. There’s one with Matt Harris and Seton Tucker that seems to be comprehensive.

My understanding is that there is something like either a background sound or a comment regarding his dad, Alex. So if it is evidence that Alex was on the property earlier that evening, before he claimed, that info would contradict his alibi…

The video shows that Alex was still at Moselle during the time frame that he said he had already left and was with his dying dad. It's also just a few minutes before the time of death. It ruins his alibi.

That entire family is fricked, and it goes back generations. The shitbag on trial is the final form of that frickery
When you take the sensationalizing out of it,CNN actually did a pretty decent documentary about it. It’s on YouTube.
Murdaugh allegedly “discovered” his murdered wife and son at his hunting camp. One of the attorneys interviewed made the point that when you dial 911, it starts recording the minute you dial.
But on Murdaugh’s call there is dead silence until the 911 Operator picks up, and then it’s panic city.
That’s one sharp lawyer.

I’ve found most gingers are either really great or really awful. I can’t think of any ginger person I’ve known that isn’t pretty far to one extreme of the other.
