I know the most important part is part is practicing and reading the music but what exact natural qualities stand out from a good harp player and a great one? Big lips? Ability to control/curl tongue? Unique facial muscles?

To do well, you need to develop tongue dexterity, which is also useful in performing a certain act on your female partner.

Everything you listed might make you a good harmonica player. To be a great harmonica player, you have to have the ability to consume a pint of bourbon in one chug and then remain vertical for the remainder of the evening.

Lay on your back, put 1 square of two ply toilet paper over your lips. Blow as hard as you can for as long as you can. If you can float the paper for at least 5 seconds then you have a chance to be a decent player. If not, don’t even bother.

A friend is an excellent harmonica blues player that leads a band. His growth as a player coincided with him increasingly talking like a old man from a 1940s library of congress field recording.
