Hwy 49 between Jackson and Richland
Highway 49 from Yazoo City to Gulfport was known as the Interstate Highway before Interstate Highways in the mid-south in the 50s & 60s.

For State #50 to have such a modern artery was unbelievable.

Airline Highway in Louisiana was the local corollary.

Maybe a current Shreveport resident can answer, has there been any update in connecting I-49 from
I-20 to 220?

Not a current S'port resident but I am from there and my parents are there. This is always a topic that has interested me.

There is a push going on right now to get this done. Rep. Johnson is pushing hard. Mayor is on board, as are all the local players. The only people against it are the people in Allendale who will have to sell their properties. I think you can expect some major moves toward this thing in 2021.

Interstate 49 to New Orleans. Those "future corridor 49" signs are over 20 years old now.

I-10 westbound starting at the Texas border extending nearly to Beaumont

False. It starts at the state line and goes about 4 miles through Orange. Beaumont is 20 miles from there and the freeway opens up to 6 lanes with a 75 mph speed limit. That project is a huge anomaly in Texas. Our projects start and are typically competed relatively quickly. Especially in the metro areas. It’s probably stalled in Orange because nobody gives a shite about that part of Texas. It’s the armpit.

A better analogy might be that Orange is beginnings of the ballon knot that circles Texas’ eastern neighbor.

There needs to be a connector from Montgomery to Panama City, Fort Walton Beach. Make it a Toll Road, Yankee Tax. Would pay for itself.

Last I drove the full 220/3132 from Bossier to the Shreveport side it looked like they had built a big connector loopidy thing but yeh its basically done I think except for like 2 or 3 miles of it that has been tied up in fighting over the property rights.

But i49 not connecting to New Orleans is honestly criminal, it makes so much sense. But sadly, we will probably not see it, nor i14. I do think we will see i69 though in La.

Good to know you have competition for your unfinished projects.

This would essentially serve as a southern loop around Baton Rouge.

I10 bridge in LCH. Seems like a science project to see how long concrete lasts at this point.

That thing is the biggest waste of time and money. It's been on the board since 1990.Only about 3 miles have had any construction. If anything metro Birmingham needs an I-65 bypass, not a complete I-59 loop.

Imagine the amount of Truck nuts you’d see on I-14 from midland to leesville! Might as well call it the “Baw memorial freeway”.
